Whats the difference between the Feminism Chat board and the Feminism Sex and Gender board?

There's a thread on the Chat board about the Girl Guides' trans policy- surely that should be on the Sex and Gender board? And I see threads about discrimination against women on the Sex and Gender board which aren't related to gender (in the trans sense).

Maybe it doesn't matter.

Or maybe the Sex and Gender board isn't intended to be exclusively about trans issues as feminism is obviously a sex based issue.

Or maybe the trans issue is now so entangled that it's impossible to have a discussion about feminism without referring to it, but I do hope that's not the case!

Wouldn't it make more sense to have a board for trans related discussions and a separate one for all other feminist discussions?

The trans issue takes up a lot of airtime here and seems to be drowning out other discussions about feminism- discrimination, women's rights, women's history, feminist literature etc etc. I'd welcome a break from the constant head fuck of the trans debate which I believe is, in itself, a form of discrimination against women as it is forcing us to spend so much time talking about men's desired rights!

(disclaimer: i am a huge, massive, enormous fan of stats. Stats are vital for so many things)

It occurs to me that instead of trying to obfuscate stats, anyone with any interest for any reason in trans issues (seriously, for ANY reason) should be pushing for more stats, much more detailed stats, on everything from who buys what type of washing up glove, what shade of lipstick, shoe sizes, prison population - anything at all. Any type of statistics gathering should have a question about your sex (your honest, biological sex) and then one on gender identity that goes: do you have one: yes - move on to next question, no - skip next question. Then the GI one asks what you identify as with all the 927 possible answers.

And trans people, more than ANYONE, should be pushing for this. Because, on a national level it is about allocating resouorces. If, as many trans people want, there is only a gender question, it is IMPOSSIBLE to identify how many trans people there are, and what their needs may be. And therefore they can't get resources allocated. This is the big trick they have been missing.

We lost so many really good posters - knowledgeable and clever. At one point we used to have a roll call every morning to see who was still left. It's making me sad thinking about all that knowledge that was lost.
