Gestational carrier

Not sure if this is right place for this but can't think where else to put it.
I've just seen (on tiktok) a woman describe another woman as "her gestational Carrier"...

The woman is crying tears of relief and the caption is " when you've just left your 7 week uss with your gestational carrier and there is a healthy heartbeat "

I feel physically sick...it's not surrogacy that upsets me..but the utter dehumanizing of a woman by another woman.

I agree with you. Of course, she's avoiding referring to the other woman as the mother.

Well, surrogacy upsets me. It dehumanises women and babies, casually traumatising babies and treating women as incubation units.

I find it a very difficult subject to even read about as its so abhorrent, beyond my comprehension that anyone can support it.

This says it all really. It isn’t her ultrasound. It is an ultrasound of the baby in the mother’s womb. Surely it is the baby’s ultrasound or the mother’s? Sorry, not the mother’s ultrasound, the ‘gestational carrier’s’.

But, hey, let’s make it all about the baby buyer instead. 🙄

This is capitalism and women and children are a commodity in a man's world.

Surrogacy is sold to young people as "progressive" and sadly it often takes actually going through the process of having a child yourself before you realise how inhumane it is to intentionally inflict the trauma of mother loss on an infant and to treat a human woman as little more than an appliance.
