Can anyone think of a legitimate reason why BBC would only be using the men's names to report the mixed doubles snooker scores?

Perhaps they have an inflexible template for scores that can only cope with one name

Yeah, perhaps that's the case. I sent them a feedback form anyway, and they've now removed the competition from the results page, so it looks like they're trying to fix it.

Obviously a technical thing, the BBC usually fall over themselves to promote any woman’s participation in sport. Women goalkeepers winning Sports Personality, a surfeit of women commentators on Match of the Day, I don’t think the BBC have an issue with women in sport…

They actually sent me a response, and it was as you suggested - their template for snooker scores only allows for one name. They're working to fix the issue before next year's tournament. Maybe I need to stop being so cynical!

Surely they could have just used both competitors last names? Eg Brecel Evans (only put the male first as alphabetical...)
