Sex pay gap

In my team I am the loan woman with about 15 more at my level. I am one of the lowest paid. Recruitment rules have been different over the last 4 years meaning more recent hires benefitted. Very few women apply.

Because I am one, and because of the different hiring rules would this make the 'pay gap' invalid?

It's hard to know without more information but if you're doing the same job and you're at the same level, you should be paid the same! But there can be all sorts of complicating factors like bonus payments, different contract types, performance related pay etc. Do you have a union where you work?

We are all at the same level - I oversee much of the function. There were different recruitment practices for when I joined, and when others joined which enabled them to receive higher pay. CS.

book a meeting with your manager and ask that your pay be adjusted upwards to reflect current hiring practices?

Do you mean gender pay gap reporting or equal pay.

I know the Regulations should say sex pay gap and whilst they do use Male and Female they are called the gender pay gap.

The Gender Pay Gap is a comparison between the average of all females salaries and the average of all male salaries.

If you are talking equal
pay then as the pp said you need to give more detail.

I am now going to suggest something that sounds bonkers. As the recruitment policy changed after you joined you need to talk (don’t email) to HR. Point out that you are being paid less than MALE new recruits due to the change in policy. Ask if you applied for a future vacancy (yes applying for your own job) would you be treated in accordance with Equal Pay legislation and like new MALE recruits be given the higher pay rate?

Offering to apply for your own job to be paid equally with male colleagues is bonkers but it is a valid way to increase your salary. They could also be sensible and realise you may have a valid equal pay claim.
