Andropause workshops....

I work for a fairly "woke" organisation (pronouns on signatures, lots of use of "cis" and gender etc).

For the last couple of years there have been online menopause awareness sessions that all employees, male and female, are encouraged to attend. All good stuff.

We have just been sent invites to Andropause awareness sessions, so we can understand what men are going through.

Is the "male menopause" really a thing? Or is this just jumping on yet another bandwagon?

According to the NHS website, “Is there such a thing as a "male menopause"?The "male menopause" (sometimes called the andropause) is an unhelpful term sometimes used in the media.
This label is misleading because it suggests the symptoms are the result of a sudden drop in testosterone in middle age, similar to what occurs in the female menopause. This is not true.
Although testosterone levels fall as men age, the decline is steady at about 1% a year from around the age of 30 to 40, and this is unlikely to cause any problems in itself”
So not a thing that needs awareness raising, no.

Thanks, that was my thought. It's passing me off because a number of my male colleagues are talking about it as though its equivalent to the actual menopause. The one that women have.

Andropause is a thing, but it is in no way comparable to perimenopause and menopause. Not even close.

Ffs trust men to get in on the act. Can't even have a menopause to ourselves.
