Last year I bought family Xmas PJs from Chelsea Peers, and DH and DS had pockets and DD and I did not, I complained bitterly and sent this poem:

Dangerous Coats by Sharon Owens:Someone clever once said

Women were not allowed pockets

In case they carried leaflets

To spread sedition

Which means unrest

To you and me

A grandiose word

For common sense

Fairness

Kindness

Equality

So ladies, start sewing

Dangerous coats

Made of pockets & sedition

they replied that they were very sorry and would effect change. I got them again this year and POCKETS ALL ROUND!!!! Yeeeahhhhhh! Feminist fist pump! 😂😂😂

💪💪💪 brilliant.
You complained and they changed. We all need to do more of the same.

WanderingWitches · 04/12/2023 07:53

This is brilliant
Well done op

As a lover of pockets and pyjamas this makes me incredibly proud and happy.

Well done OP! I got some PJ's from Chelsea Peers for my birthday a couple of weeks ago and didn't know they didn't have pockets before. The first thing I said when I put them on was "Hurrah, they have pockets!"

Smashing

DifficultBloodyWoman · 04/12/2023 11:05

I’ve never heard of Chelsea Peers before but I do need some new pajamas. Guess where I will look first?

It pays to listen to your customers!!!

eurochick · 04/12/2023 14:01

Nice work! Love that poem.

ManchesterGirl2 · 04/12/2023 17:35

Love the poem! Though of all clothes, i think pajamas are the least in need of pockets, as I don't go anywhere in them.

GoodOldEmmaNess · 04/12/2023 17:45

Most of my PJs have pockets. I don't really understand why the fact that some clothes don't have pockets has started to be referred to as a feminist issue. It isn't as if we have solved the 499 more important feminist issues and need a new project.

I guess that, if pockets are important to you it would be annoying if their presence or absence wasn't part of the product description online. Other than that, big meh.

NutellaEllaElla · 04/12/2023 17:55

I'd never heard of Chelsea Peers either so am wandering off to google them now.

And @ManchesterGirl2 , I vehemently disagree. I definitely need pockets in my jammies. I carry my phone plus loads of other shit around the house with me, God knows why.

NutellaEllaElla · 04/12/2023 17:56

They do have some lovely ones

BombaySamphire · 04/12/2023 17:58

Well done 👍

It was my first thought too.
well done OP!

CP pjs are amazing. They are the only ones that make a loose waistband that I can actually sleep in. And short leg versions.

This is the icing on the cake 🙌

Zimunya · 04/12/2023 18:01

Great job!

DialSquare · 04/12/2023 18:02

That's brilliant. I buy my daughter Chelsea Peers pyjamas every year. I'm so glad they listened.

nettie434 · 04/12/2023 18:03

Oh well done! Excellent campaigning. Will have to improve my pocket checking before putting clothes in the washing machine. It's a price worth paying though!

The practical differences between clothes ARE a feminist issue. Pockets are just a piece of it. Paying more for less material, sexualised designs for girls, lack of pockets, prey not predators, stupid slogans, less sun protection, less comfort, less choice, more pink. All feed the lack of practicality and the message that women are decorative and nice and men are practical and predatory.

Which is why DD wears all 'male' tops. But bottoms have to fit better so pockets are important.

Igmum · 04/12/2023 18:20

That's brilliant - I'd never heard of them either but will be investigating they deserve support!

User1775 · 04/12/2023 18:26

@GoodOldEmmaNess I have PJs with and without pockets. Had the mens not had pockets I wouldn't have flagged it. But for men to get pockets and women not - that needed an explanation and instead they thought about it and decided to add women's pockets - which is great :)
It's obviously a lighthearted thread. As a campaigner against VAWG it is obviously not the hill I choose to die on - I did not march to the offices and threatened to cancel them or start a twitter campaign - I just sent a friendly email and wanted to share the result to bring a smile to my mates in FC, which it seems to have done :)
