Brazilian Supermodels with Ivy League degrees do not sell their body parts, they do not need to. It is poor women you are exploiting, their children you traffic and for that you call them a prostitute. The mother of your child is called a prostitute and reduced to being a broodmare.

yet some people are determined to present the international baby supply trade as some progressive and wonderful thing.

Even when the baby purchasers describe the woman they used as an incubator in such disparaging ways, we are supposed to pretend this isn’t the instagrammable end of human trafficking.

And how will they cope if their Brazilian babe smokin hot baby screams all night and has teething trouble and vomits and has the shits? Will they give it back because it's faulty? Or ignore it?

Why aren't there stronger laws around this? When I was growing up, buying babies was seen as a wicked thing that had been stamped out. Now it is a podcast adventure. FFS.

@TotalOverhaul I simply don’t understand why this stuff is not viewed as an international human rights abuse.

But I’m sure we’ll have some baby trade apologists along very soon to insist that we are all homophobic for not celebrating wealthy gay men’s rights to buy a grown to order baby.

That is disgusting - so much for just loving your child regardless. The donor might be beautiful and well educated but there is obviously something not right if you are willing to sell your child to people with this attitude.

People who view other humans and their own potential child through this lens should not be allowed to be parents. Poor, poor baby who ends up with them. And my full sympathy goes to any woman who finds themselves as surrogates.

This is what worries me. The pressure on a child to conform to being cute and adorable 24/7 to fulfil daddies' ersatz idea of parenthood. That is abuse.
