Coleen Rooney - why?

I'm not much interested in the whole celebrity/football thing, but an article I read this morning where Coleen Rooney describes her husband's multiple infidelities with prostitutes, and continued unfaithfulness, incl. threesomes with other women when she was pregnant, really made me wonder why Coleen was prepared to marry this vile man, have four children by him, and continues to stand by him.

I know the obvious answer, but the whole business is depressing. Why do women have such low expectations of men? How can you 'love' someone who publicly humiliates you so much?

She'd hardly be left penniless if she filed for divorce though.

I think it started before they were married and had children. So, she chose ££££

Although, that doesn’t explain why she has stayed.

She's a devout Catholic I believe?

Divorce is an absolute last resort.

Definitely money. But also:

• she has never been with anyone else as they were childhood sweethearts
• she's from a traditional Catholic family - and that comes with the understanding that you are married until you die and you stand by your man no matter what

I really admired how she handled the Wagatha Christie thing and the Disney + documentary was great PR but she's undoing it all with this new tell all stuff. Really cheapening her brand after doing so much prior good work on it. I'm not sure whether it's supposed to elicit sympathy but it makes her look like a bit of a fool.

She could shed Wayne now and maintain both lifestyle and fame, imo - she has a lot of fans, and is far more high profile than he is.

You do wonder about the message it sends to their sons.

Maybe none of it's true and all to gain media attention and headlines which = more fame and money?

Maybe she doesn't just want the money. It's not all about money for many people.
She clearly feels the benefits she gets from the relationship outweigh the negatives.
Everyone's different, but she isn't the first and won't be the last.

She doesn't have to deal with probably multiple stepmums.

@TastesLikeStrawberriesOnASummerEvening I think this is exactly right. He's never put his sons first and it's unlikely he suddenly would if divorced. If she doesn't want to share her kids with Wayne's latest bimbo then this is the right way to maintain control. He's an utter cult for doing it to her though.

I agree with you. I don't just wonder though, I think it sets an awful precedent.

It’s also possible that she doesn’t particularly enjoy sex with him, isn’t jealous, and him getting sex somewhere else actually suits her well.

She may be enjoying sex elsewhere too.

Perhaps she is getting ready to leave & the current PR is part of that. I think she is a stronger character than even he realises.

She's been with him since childhood and most likely comes from an old-school stand by your man kind of background. It's easy to say she's hanging in there for the cash but I think she clearly loves him, and as others have said would leave with plenty of cash anyway if she decided to divorce.

It’s not only about money. It’s also about status and fame, which both can be addictive. This “childhood sweethearts” story doesn’t appeal to me at all. They started dating , when he’s already been First League footballer and very likely the highest earner she knew. She was only eighteen , not married and with no kids, when the first Wayne’s infidelity was widely published. She even admitted he gave her access to his credit card as “an apology”. Should they divorced, she’d kept children and lots of money, but she’d lost her celebrity status. No one is interested in Coleen without Wayne. All her “career” was about talking about her relationship. Cynical me thinks she started this Rebekah Vardy thing only to revive her fame, which faded away in the recent days.

She didn’t start the Rebekah Vardy thing, that was Rebekah Vardy.

It was Coleen who put this statement on her social media account. She could had talk to her in private, but decided to let whole world to know.

Or maybe Rebekah Vardy could just not have been such a greedy, two faced cow in the first place? I wonder how it would have gone if she’d tried to talk to her about it? Lies lies and more lies, without a doubt.

Also, Vardy could just have ignored it, instead of taking it to court when she knew fine well she had done it. She’s a sneaky, lying, desperado.

I will never understand this.If she divorces him she'll be rich in her own right and will receive hefty cm on top. She doesnt need to stay.
