Ohio Issue 1: Voters approve adding abortion rights to state constitution www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-67352011

"One of the leading groups that opposed the amendment, Protect Women Ohio.....

.....In a statement, the group said: "Our hearts are broken tonight not because we lost an election, but because Ohio families, women and children will bear the brunt of this vote.

We stand ready during this unthinkable time to advocate for women and the unborn," it added."

Advocate for and protect women? Seriously?

The mealy-mouthed bollocks of this boils my wee.

How will they bear the brunt, I wonder? Thousands of women force marched to abortions they don't want to have? That, I'm pretty confident, will still be illegal.

Hopefully they will now focus their efforts on improving the infant mortality rate, which is above the US average (itself nearly double the UK rate and more than double the rate in France), and the horrifying rates of maternal mortality. I'm sure they'll get right on that.

But I just saw that in the very same U.S. state, the legislature voted to ban transgender treatment for children--"ban transgender minors from receiving gender-affirming medical care and prevent transgender girls from taking part in girls' and women's sports". The governor attempted to veto the bill, but the legislature had the majority needed to override him. So is it a good place or a bad one? Sometimes one and sometimes the other, I suppose.

'Gender affirming medical care' for minors - thats puberty blockers and cross sex hormones, isn't it. The treatment sterilises the patient, and creates an adult with no sexual function. Adults who will never experience an orgasm.

Why is that considered a human rights abuse for trans adults but not trans children??
