Another young woman dead

This is all over the news in Australia today, partly because the woman was killed at an elite Sydney private school, where she worked. Police are searching for a male colleague who has disappeared, with belongings found near a notorious suicide spot. Other media are reporting the two had been dating for a few weeks. Why does this keep happening??? I’m so angry and sad.

Oh god that's so awful 😢 It's a really scary time to be a women and know/be related to any other women and girls.

What is happening to men? The volumes of rapists, murderers, paedophiles, terrorists, incels, women haters, oppressors, human traffickers etc etc just seem to be exploding lately.
Will the good men ever take a stand and match the streets to save their fellow human beings? Or are they just too safe and sound in their "I'm ok/not all men" bubble?

It really is so scary. This poor girl like so many others was just living her life - studying, working, dating someone she met at work - and now she’s dead. It’s so messed up.

The "good" men wouldn't do it themselves, so don't believe it's happening.

I agree - it's not worse, just more visible. The Internet means we see more, and aspects of current culture embolden the women haters to be more open. But it's always gone on, in or out of sight.

It is a scary time, when I grew up as a teenager I had a lot of freedom and luckily a big group of friends including males my age and older who were always looking out for me, and I always felt safe. I can't imagine a young girl having such freedom these days and that is so sad.

That's terrible. Usually I reserve judgement until the facts are known but this does look pretty cut and dried. That said, I'm not paticularly worried about my safety as I think it's easy to get worried if you read too much of this stuff online.

The likelihood of being killed is something like 1 in 95,000 (less if this stat is for both sexes combined) but with almost 8 billion humans on the planet you'll always read about ghastly stuff.

Is there an increase? Are there any stats to back this up. Or this this just more visible because to the nature of media today?

There's probably an increase but you'd expect that with a fast growing population and also high immigration levels from cultures where things like honour killings are relatively common.

I agree I think there is an increase due to immigration,thousands of displaced men with no family, no purpose in life. Also internet porn/violence plus increased isolation of many men reducing social skills and that sense of belonging and being part of a shared community. I read somewhere DV is increasing too. Child abuse porn and grooming is exploding thanks to the internet to levels police can't cope with and don't have resources or skills to investigate.
Sorry to be miserable just I think the risk is growing not just awareness.

And his parents have allegedly chosen to scatter his remains in Sydney - where she was raised - rather than take him back to the Netherlands.
