Girl Guides trans policy

Hello, are there any campaigners who want another activist to help reverse the Trans policy allowing any boy or man who identifies as a girl or woman to be part of the supposed girl-only organisation?

Or is there anyone out there wanting to join me? I'm using non-violent direct action to highlight the lunacy of their 'trans' inclusion policy. But I am alone in this, so far.

There must be a high percentage of parents who are not aware that boys and men could be sharing toilets and sleeping quarters with their daughters.

When I asked my Brown Owl about the policy she didn't know anything about it and said boys would never be allowed to use the girls facilities but I pointed out the policy states that exactly what would be allowed. She also wasn't aware of the TIM Guide Commissioner in Nottinghamshire who was found posing with guns and, wearing fetish wear under captions including "boobs do you want to see more?" and "behave or mistress will have to punish you"

I also asked her to find out who guided the policy. she told me Stonewall and Gendered Intelligence.

I contacted Girl Guides HQ to ask the same question and to ask which womens' organisations they asked, They failed to tell me which organisations and didn't respond to my question about womens' rights groups being asked.

Our girls are not confused. Our girls are being gas lit into thinking a girls body might have a penis.

Any advice welcome. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Also mixed sex accommodation rules dont apply if you consider the scouts definition. If a transgirl wanted to sleep in the girls tent, that wouldnt be categorised as mixed sex according to the scouts policy, which like GG, conflates sex with gender.

*You mustn't disclose confidential information about a trans young person to other parents and carers, without that young person’s consent.

So you can only have that conversation if the person in question agrees, which they may not do*

You can inform parents that there may be mixed-sex accommodation without going into specifics.

Could you show me where this guidance is given by the Scout Association, as I'd be genuinely interested in this.

Just skimming the thread - someone asked about transparency/what happens to the funds if Foxie's Future aren't able to buy Foxlease. I found this in the FAQs (https://foxiesfuture.co.uk/):

Q. How can I donate and what will my donation be used for?

If you want to help fund Foxie's Future financially then, firstly, thank you!
You can donate to our Crowdfunding Campaign which will go live on 1st September 2023. This will shortly be linked elsewhere on this page.

You can add us as a cause on easyfundraising.org.uk which allows you to donate to us through making everyday purchases.

Donation towards running costs:-

Alternatively, please send us an email to [email protected] and we will be in
touch with our bank details for you to make a direct transfer and to
provide a receipt once your payment is received.

Donations sent in this way will be on a receipted, non-contingent and non-refundable basis and will not be ring-fenced. We anticipate that any such donations will, at least initially, be used to fund further fundraising, professional fees, administrative or other costs involved in running the Foxie's Future campaign and to support the exploration of the options for preserving and maintaining the Foxlease property and site. These donations, along with any contingent donations, will also (we hope), in the longer term, support the purchase of the Foxlease property and site from Girlguiding, if that is an option available to Foxie's Future at the appropriate stage.

If Foxie's Future is unsuccessful (which we hope will not be the case) or the Activity Centres are retained by Girlguiding then our current intention is that any residual funds will be gifted between 1st Lyndhurst Guides (as they currently meet at the Foxlease site) and Girlguiding South West England, in order to be used as ring-fenced grant funding for adventure activities for girls based within their Region.

Q. How can I make contingent donations or future pledges?

A. If you want to make a larger donation specifically to support the purchase of Foxlease by Foxie's Future (in the event that we reach that stage) then, firstly, thank you!

Please send us an email to [email protected] and we will be in touch with further details as to how this works as this is a slightly more involved process to ensure that funds are appropriately ring-fenced and preserved. It is likely that we may ask you to make your donation via our Crowdfunding page, but please do check with us by email and we can confirm this for you.

Yes, I know but if you ask about this in the mentioned Facebook group, you get thrown out and your comment deleted. They've specifically said that crowdfunded funds will be refunded if they're unsuccesful (and come on, realistically, they'll be unsuccesful). But if you look at the crowdfunding page it's not set up like this - it's set up for "keep what you raise" regardless of success - so it's not set up to refund. And if the crowdfunding platform pays out, as I understand it, they will lose the ability to refund through this and pay the crowdfunding platform fees. It's really dodgy

I took my daughter out of guides because of their trans policy. She was getting bored anyway, too much sitting around talking each week, not enough doing interesting stuff.

KareenaQueena · 07/09/2023 13:39

Lots of interesting points. I think we mostly all agree that the inclusion of boys and men and boys is wrong and the organisation is being held hostage by ideologues.

I don't know much about activity centres but I will look into those.

What now?

Are any of you Womens Rights Network members?

We are many and if we pool resources we could try raise more awareness/ create a new campaign.

I think there is nothing left but to let the organisation die. I'm so sorry about this - I gave decades of my life to this organisation which I now bitterly regret.

KareenaQueena · 11/09/2023 14:43

aw that's awful. I am sorry. It's utterly baffling why they have let ideologies into this once great organisation. It's difficult to know if people are aware.

it's such a shame but i understand. for principles to be so, it means losing something.

They settled out of court with Katie Alcock. It will be worth looking up the statement they made at the time - presumably it was agreed as part of the settlement. It basically said that the trans policy will stay the same but they recognise that gender critical beliefs are protected by the EA and they would not be trying to prevent gender critical leaders speak about it (from memory). I remember thinking that if they stuck to their commitment the policy discussion would now be able to take place within the organisation. Perhaps that's not how it has worked out.

Ownedbykitties · 11/01/2024 10:34

This is so wrong on every level. What are you doing? Wrote to MP? Start a petition? I'm with you on this one.

ByRoseBee · 02/06/2024 16:07

I don't know how to come out to my brownie and ranger unit that in trans i was born female but i feel like a male and my pronouns are he him and my prefferd name is Caeden and i dont know how to tell them as im worried that if i tell them they wont want me to help or attend girlguides anymore.

ArabeIIaScott · 02/06/2024 16:26

What does 'feeling male' mean?

Longtimelurkerfinallyposts · 06/06/2024 19:01

why do you want to continue to be part of 'girlguiding' while feeling male?
have you considered joining the scouts instead? (which is open to male and female members)

Please leave byrosybee alone. Byrosybee clearly enjoys it so why should byrosybee leave? Byrosybee is not harming anyone by doing so afaik

@KareenaQueena Some of you will know that Maya Forstater, a founding officer of the lobbying charity Sex Matters, was forced to leave scouting because of gender ideology issues. (And apologies if this is already mentioned in the thread.) The story could apply equally to Guiding.

In 2018 Forstater had been an Assistant Scout Leader for six years and was concerned about Scout’s transgender policies undermining safeguarding. She wrote to Scouting leadership to raise concerns.

In 2021, she eventually received an apology from the Scout Association after a complaint was made against her, which she describes as vexatious.

As Forstater says, there have been over 255 convicted cases of child sexual abuse by Scout leaders in the UK and Ireland, almost all by men. The idea that Scout Leaders can declare themselves women or non-binary and be removed from this risk category is dangerous.

She argues that it is important that Scout groups know, and are able to accurately record and discuss the sex of the children and young people in their care and the sex of the adults that are in charge of them, in order to fulfil basic safeguarding and risk assessment. And that they are honest with parents.

She says: ‘Safeguarding must come first in developing policies that protect everyone. And this must mean not losing sight of reality, or allowing offence-taking to undermine safeguarding.’

To highlight just how many sexual offences have been committed by those involved with the Scouts Association, we have created an interactive map.
