Awful sites for sharing images of wives/girlfriends

I didn't know these existed until I discovered I was on them, courtesy of my exH.
There are two sites in particular that I have found where men encourage each other to share photos of their wives. These are intimate photos and I guess the majority of women, like me, have no idea.

How are these sites even legal? I have looked at them a lot, like a car crash I can't look away from. I keep checking for my photos popping up again. I see men who promise other men to 'wait till she's asleep and I'll take more photos'. They sneak up on their wives in the shower or getting dressed, snap a photo and share it with these other deviant perverts. There are thousands of them.

I feel sick. I wish someone like Stacey Dooley would do an expose on these sites and then they might be shut down, or at least more women would know of their existence.

To me they represent an enormous part of what is wrong with society. Men see women as commodities, there for their scorn or gratification.

I've NCd for this. I can't tell anyone in real life what I have found but I need to tell someone.

Absolutely horrific. I'm so sorry this has happened to you.

MeTooWishItWasntTrue · 25/07/2023 00:16

I'm sorry for me too, but am I naive in that I had no clue there were websites like this? One is a chat forum, looks very like this one to be honest but the topics are things like 'post a pic of your wife'. The replies then consist of other men commenting on her body, calling her a sl*t etc.

These sites are so dangerous to women. What can be done about them? They shouldn't be allowed to exist.

Report him. Sharing photos like that is an offence. Its disgusting these sites are allowed. Its frightening to think how many women are being abused like this without their knowledge

Morewineplease10 · 25/07/2023 02:25

Report to the police op.
I'm sorry. This is more common than we'd like to think sadly.

ElEmEnOhPee · 25/07/2023 02:45

There was a site someone shared with me on FB a few years ago but I cant remember the name of it now. Very much like what you've said OP.

It was a forum type site and there were ones for different locations for example "Dudley" and then asking for photos of certain women in the area and asking if anyone had them. If no one had them then one of them would message the woman on FB/Insta asking for pics then they'd share them on the site. There were quite a lot from my small town, I was shocked!

So sorry this has happened to you. Sadly something similar happened to me a few years back. Someone posted some of my posts from social media (none were revealing, but just wearing nice dresses etc.) on a sharing website. I got in contact with the police and they said nothing could be done because my account was public and that anyone could see the images. I had to report the posts and get them taken down myself.

anxiousHusband · 27/07/2023 11:57

This has happened to my wife. We went to the world naked bike ride one year and there was someone taking photos. I didn't think about it at the time but a few months ago I got a sinking feeling they'd be on the internet, so I looked and found them. These sites are horrible and shouldn't exist. I know we were in a public place so not technically illegal for the person to share the photos. But it's left me in a terrible mental state. Problem is there were only 2 photos, but I know the man took more, so there must be more somewhere on the Internet but I can't find them. Makes me ill thinking about it; worst of all, I'm in agony as to whether to tell my wife. From searching, it seems that they haven't 'spread' so I feel that it's not worth disclosing to her as nothing I think can be done, so it would just cause her a lot of distress. Also I don't want to ask for them to be taken down in case the website owners that identify me and therefore my wife somehow. That in turn makes me feel guilty for not saying anything. I here ya OP as well, it becomes obsessive and scary thinking about what other photos are online. I also believe she does have the right to know so a big moral dilemma. What do people think I should do?

parietal · 27/07/2023 12:05

@anxiousHusband you need to tell her. you should not be deciding anything for her.

Stratocumulus · 27/07/2023 12:08

@MeTooWishItWasntTrue
You have discovered a terrible nest of rats. I am so sorry you are troubled by what you’ve discovered. Who wouldn’t be? It’s awful. You might, as suggested above, ask advice from the police about getting the images taken down?

@anxiousHusband
I am so sorry that you are ruminating and tortured by what you have discovered.

Im also horrified by what the OP has shared with MN. Who knew?

Dear God, what is the world coming to? Nothing is sacred these days.

@anxiousHusband i can only suggest you slam the lid on this one and carry on. There is no point in sharing something that cant have anything done about it. Let your wife live in innocence and let time soften your memory.

anxiousHusband · 27/07/2023 13:02

Thanks a lot for the kind message. I think you're right, I need to let it go. It's hard as I live with GAD so it's trickier for me than a lot of folk.

MeTooWishItWasntTrue · 27/07/2023 14:21

@anxiousHusband as the victim of these sites I say you must tell your wife. She has a right to know, and then it is her decision if she takes steps to get them removed.

It's a crime and report it. Voyeurs aren't harmless

I'm so sorry this happened to you. Legally, I'm pretty sure you can take him to court for what he did. That's vile behaviour.

Aye ye did

Cableknitdreams · 19/12/2024 16:29

This sounds very similar to the Pelicot case and shows that men everywhere do indeed commit these horrific acts.

I'd report it to the police, MPs and the media, although unfortunately I doubt much will be done.

curiousfella · 29/03/2025 11:09

HI there, very sorry to read about this happening to you.

As a twist, I was directed by an understanding friend to a site just like this where he had seen pics posted of my wife. I saw them, and that is how I discovered she was havign an affair.

I'm not sure it's a good idea to give them free publicity.
