Cheers for Red Roses and Lionesses, women’s sports inspirations

I just want to yell and cheer for the fabulous Red Roses, giving us another international victory on the scale of the Lionesses’ win last summer. Rugby, soccer — so many disappointments when you follow the male game, but so much joy from our wonderful women.

Our women’s teams have long been more successful than the men, despite receiving a fraction of the backing, media coverage and support. Now the record crowd at the women’s rugby shows they’re starting to receive some long-overdue recognition. And all without (as far as I know) any males playing as women.

I agree - the women cricketers are pretty good too!
Love watching women's sport. It's great that it's finally getting TV coverage.

I was never interested in sport until I read that if the media took women's sport as seriously as men's, the news would be full of jubilant headlines about our victories!
