So I need some help working this out as I’m just going around in circles in my head.

My 9 year old daughter has been given a crop top, she wants to wear it out this evening.

Now my feminist side is saying, she can wear what the hell she wants. Another side of me is wanting to shout no she can’t wear that. Help me unpick this because right now I feel so conflicted I don’t know what to say or do!

My dd8 wears crop tops. At first I was a bit aghast but realise that it's just fashion and yes that fashion may be directed by the male gaze but ultimately all fashion is, so unless I want to make her wear a hazmat suit then I feel I might as well let her do what she wants. I have warned her about the perils of a burnt belly button though if it gets too sunny!

my daughter had a lovely 2 piece flared trousers and crop top originally in size 7-8 she liked it so much I managed to get it in the 9-10. Once the boobs strarted to come in everything changed and she mostly likes a very baggy jumper or 2 now.

I say let her enjoy it whilst she can, the people who sexualise the bodies of 9 year olds should deal with their own issues.
