Just seen this headline from the Daily Fail on Twitter and am so angry! The Daily Fail may as well gone the whole hog and said she deserved it for being ‘high achieving’.

Seeing as the Daily Fail are constantly on here for lazy stories, I hope you see this and change your horribly misogynistic headline.

I agree, OP, it's an awful headline. The wording suggests that the husband was somehow a passive victim of circumstance rather than a vile, murdering bastard.

Exactly this. Poor husband couldn’t cope with a successful wife. WTAF.

Have worked in comms and media relations for 25 yrs (including a role where I had to digest a round up of national media on a daily basis). The Daily Mail doesn’t just ask an innocent question.

The use of the question mark is used so often in Daily Fail headlines to sway readers into a certain way of thinking.

It’s a fucking awful question

Yes it’s an absolutely terrible question. Having a partner with a successful career is in no way connected with being a murderer (fortunately) and in no way a mitigating circumstance. And it’s appalling to suggest that it is.

I glimpsed that headline this morning and had the same thought. It’s veering towards victim blaming.
Let’s keep the women in their place, sort of stuff.
