Truly horrific. There is no "the uterus" only "her uterus" women's bodies belong to them.

OK, it might be a thought experiment for her as a philosopher, and she does discuss the moral issues though in a rather weird way. But the more this kind of thing gets out there and starts being touted as a possibility, the more people will opt out of organ donation. You used to be able to specify which organs to donate but I don’t think you can now. So I’m out, because there’s no safeguard against your organs or tissues being used for purposes that you would find abhorrent.

Can relatives override your wishes not to be a donor though? If I died suddenly and my dh was asked to donate my organs, he’d probably say yes because he’s opted to be an organ donor himself.

I had personal reservations about the auto opt in organ donor system before this was even touted. It’s very easy to see how it’s a short step to go from nicely volunteering your organs after death to potentially having organs and tissue being harvested and monetised. It’s not really a stretch of the imagination to think of the possibility of financial incentives to pay to switch off a critically ill person in order to get organs for 7 others. The more things like this are mentioned the more it worries me. We already have designer babies bought by rich people through surrogacy
