An old article cherwell.org/2019/03/14/cambridge-womens-college-faces-criticism-for-decision-to-admit-men/
I spotted a quote from one of my tutors on here, Caron Freeborn.

I studied a degree as a mature student it was hard, and I felt like a complete imposter at times. (and it was a degree with some other mature students. I was the only one with children who got through it.)

The idea of a university college that is specifically for people like me sounds great. Especially if they can study the more traditional type degrees. (Mine was an allied health professions degree- where they tend to get a lot of mature students)

Well Lucy Cavendish can dress it up as 'job done, we've picked another demographic' as much as they like, but - follow the money. Dame Madeleine Atkins has a new accommodation block to pay for and is probably expecting a pay rise.

It is insane to imagine that adult women are not impacted by structural inequality. In fucking sane. There is so much evidence that shows that the domestic burden is nowhere near being equally shared and that it has a deleterious impact on women's status across all markers.

Lucy Cavendish has prided itself on doing outreach to girls at GCSE-stage rather than lowering the exam requirements - why have they not been able to do the same for older women, whom they were founded to help, rather than deciding it's the turn of young men? They haven't even begun to address their own fucking remit and they're calling it 'job done'. Shame on them.
