From the Guardian today....

I would like to see who signed off on this recruiting policy!

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/nov/02/prevalent-predatory-misogynistic-culture-in-police-official-report-finds?CMP=ShareiOSAppp_Other

Officers were cleared to join after “committing offences such as robbery, indecent exposure, possession of controlled drugs, drink-driving and domestic abuse-related assaults”, the report found.

And these people are supposed to protect us from rapists, abusers etc? It all makes sense now about why there are so many procedural failings with domestic abuse and rape cases meaning so many cases don't make it to court.

I mean I could understand if an 18 year old was caught with a small amount of cannabis but some years later wants to join up. But indecent exposure?? WTAF? Robbery? Domestic violence? It all makes sense now, what a vile cesspit our police operate from.

Its been a disaster in the making. Not only vetting but the calibre of people joining the Police is at an all time low. The simple fact is quality people no longer want to join. Low pay, low morale, horrendous workload. It's a sign of desperation. Taking anybody to prevent the to plug gaps to prevent experienced staff resigning due to burnout.

This is so shocking, l cannot believe that the police are not being forced to re vet people. I would totally want this.

Who wants abusers, criminals, burglars etc in our police force??

OneFootintheRave · 02/11/2022 13:38

The Times are leading with this as well now. Though comments are turned off. It's a disgrace. Whoever approved the hiring or someone with a record or indecent exposure should be facing an enquiry. On what planet is that OK?

Sure, vicious cuts to budgets and pay will play some part and who would really want to be a copper these days? Anyone with any decency would be up against the rotten, bent ones and the twisted code of not grassing "one of their own".

I think the problem is they can't get decent people, due to all the issues already mentioned, morale, workloads etc, and they need the numbers in, so they have been taking whoever they can get. Something needs to change dramatically, or it is only going to get worse.
