Is this the exact part of the Equality Act?

It’s teatime so ill make this snappy but I can think of lots of people on here who are far more knowledgable than me and I need to get this exactly right.

Single sex spaces .eg toilets, are covered under Schedule 3, Part 7, Para 27(6) of the Equality Act , is that right?

If one were to put a sign up, for example, could one use the sentence above?

Toilets would be covered by para 27(6), yes.

Other single sex services might be covered by any of the provisions of Schedule 3, Part 7, Paras 26 through 27.

Also Para 28 may be relevant. It refers to exceptions in relation to the characteristic of gender reassignment and gives one of the exceptions as “provision of a service only to persons of one sex.”

Note all exceptions are caveated with “the limited provision is a proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim.”

when I was looking it seemed that gender reassignment did not trump sex characteristics at all . So many caveats and exceptions and exemptions 😁

Yes! And there are separate exceptions for things like employing someone of a particular sex, and single-sex education. It’s pretty convoluted, I can see why it might put people off trying to to do it as it makes it seem risky.
