Sorry if I've missed a thread on this already! Just wondering if any of you are going to an Enough is Enough event tomorrow? I saw women who looked suspiciously like MNers at the last one and wished I had started a thread Wink

Secret handshakes or bat signals welcome...

Yep I'll be in Leeds

whiteroseredrose · 30/09/2022 20:58

Unfortunately we're taking stuff to DD at Uni or we would be there.

EnoughReallyIsEnough · 30/09/2022 21:12

I think there will be more coming up (sadly!) @whiteroseredrose

Good luck in Leeds @rumred. I will be in Manchester.

Thanks@EnoughReallyIsEnough I hope it goes well in Manchester.
It'll be interesting to see how they all pan out.

scaredoff · 01/10/2022 17:06

I was going to but then I realised all the rallies would be full of lefties who believe TWAW, and that cancels out absolutely everything they are trying to change in absolutely every other aspect of society whatsoever.

I'll be attending my local branch of the Liz Truss Fan Club instead, and helping draft a proposal that all benefits and energy bill rebates be withdrawn from anyone who can't correctly answer What A Woman Is.

EmmaH2022 · 01/10/2022 18:21

Hardly any reporting on this

hope everyone had a good experience

really can't see why they scheduled it to clash with a rail strike. Turnout must be lower than on a different day.

whiteroseredrose · 01/10/2022 19:45

Next one I'm definitely there. And I have two protest virgins that I'll bring with me.

EnoughReallyIsEnough · 05/10/2022 11:25

They all looked well attended and I hope there will be more!

I didn't get to the Manchester one in the end as I dislocated my shoulder in the morning. TEN hours in A and E before it was x rayed and put back in. I have emailed my local (Tory) MP and also Thèresè Coffey's dept (again) about it and the lack of funding for the NHS etc.

There were lots of people complaining about the wait, ironically quite a few voted for this government. I wasn't engaging in discussions because I was in so much pain (and actually fainted after six hours of it) but I overheard a lot of conversations!

(Just seen on the news Liz Truss is being heckled Grin)

Also agree the scheduling on a train strike day was a bit of an own goal, sadly.

@whiteroseredrose I have DC the same age and they are just getting into political activism. I won't say anymore as I've made myself a bit identifiable but they have been radicalised by MN and their mother Wink

Will there be any shouty women calling a baby a fascist?

I think that's a different rally @ComebackQueen

@TheStoop as you haven't RTFT despite it only being 11 posts long Grin the rally is in the past and I didn't even get to go after all . I'm sure there will be another one in the future which you can be too busy to attend though, don't worry!

Should have had a smiley face after reply to comeback sorry!

StillWeRise · 06/10/2022 18:59

yes I attended
small Northern town and while trade unionists and left wing groups were very much in evidence there was not a sniff of TRAs
I have 2 theories for this

  1. they were there as individuals and out of respect for the genuine suffering that the protests were aimed at, they decided not to derail the protest with irrelevant issues
  2. they couldn't be arsed to go because the protest didn't centre them

on a different note, I was quite disturbed that apart from a piece in the Observer there was very little reporting- why was that eh?

EnoughReallyIsEnough · 07/10/2022 10:51

I think the first scenario there is vanishingly unlikely @StillWeRise Grin

I noticed that too, up here there was some coverage of the London march but it was very much presented as "those annoying crusties Extinction Rebellion are causing trouble again" rather than a protest against COL etc.
