Save mother or baby

First timer on this board. Just read an article about a family-poorly baby-bad delivery etc. husband asked if it came to it, who should they save, mother or child. Why is this even a question? Why is the mother's life ever to be sacrificed unless it was agreed prior. If it was agreed prior the. Why is the man being asked?

This stuff is often bollocks to add drama to a story. I'd be very dubious of its veracity. It's not something that happens, the 'he had to choose between me and the baby' thing.

OP what you've read isn't real. As if a bloke is going to be asked whether to save the woman or the baby. Hmm

EvilEdna1 · 07/08/2022 17:11

That doesn't happen. The medical team always prioritise the mother.

FWIW the woman's life would take priority given that unborn babies have no right to life if the choice was needed.

Unless in Ireland or half the US of course. In which case who care about the woman Angry

Compo story in DM and Gofundme page. Question will not have been asked.

Ireland changed that in 2018. Maybe you mean Northern Ireland?

Where did you read this? That’s not how medical decisions are made in England.

Buttons294749 · 08/08/2022 20:21

Can also confirm this is not how nhs england runs, for various reasons this came up with my consultant who said that the mother is the patient and is always the priority when it comes to it
