Upcoming local elections - how to vote

How much weight do you put on local elections? The Green candidate (female) for our region is great however I'm put off The Greens for obvious reasons.

Same for Lib Dems. Labour would never get in where I live.

I think a Conservative vote would be wasted. Please help :)

Last time we voted tactically, and those who couldn't vote decided on a message used to spoil their ballot.
I'm probably going to spoil mine with something like ''if you can't respect my sex, dont expect my X''. But I would prefer something much shorter as its a pain to write all that with the stubby pencil.
