Looking at #Labourlosingwomen
trending on twitter and wondering what our options are in national politics.
So The WE Party, do they know what a woman is? I have had a quick look at their constitution and apart from the phrase "we are diverse and inclusive" I can't really tell.
I am obviously all for diversity and inclusion, but I am looking for a political party, apart from the Tories, which knows what a woman is.

They know that a woman is a state of mind Hmm

Their chief donor has a 'trans daughter', and mysteriously a consultation in which 70% of members favoured single sex spaces has been quietly buried...

No, not a clue. They are also a completely wasted vote. The Lib Dems and the Green are worse, in that they actively punish or expel members who know what a woman is.

So the options are:

Vote for the corrupt, incompetent Tories who's policies will hurt women and the poor.

Vote for inept, dogmatic Labour who will legally eradicate women.

Spoil or protest party, both effectively the same.

My local Tory MP is awful but I'm honestly considering voting for them for the first time in my life. I'm so fucking sad about it.

This was posted before about the Women's Equality Party and is a very interesting read.

There is an alternative - look to who your local candidates are and what their opinions are. Whilst I would say at the moment the Tories are the best of a bad lot, there are certain ones I would never vote for - Crispin Blunt being one.

Re the WEP, I never tire of this meme. They think “women” are an identity. It’s a fucking joke.

This Twitter thread is by a former member of the WEP's policy committee:
twitter.com/LineyHunt/status/1557335641783951361

You can get a flavour of it from the 1st tweet alone:

"When people ask me why I'm not massively involved in politics at the moment there's a lot of answers I give but one I feel the need to rant about today is the fact that gender criticals, terfs, haters etc. ruined feminism."

Followed by:

"You literally can't do "feminism" without someone turning up and pulling the what is a woman bullshit. You can't even share an event to support abortion rights without someone demanding you define woman.
That's how much they're willing to pull down feminism for their one issue"

"And you have two approaches.
Firstly being polite and trying to understand where they're coming from and talk them round, recommend Shon Fayes book etc. But what actually happens is that gives them space to spread hate and confusion"

etc etc GCs are all hateful bigots etc etc, you can fill your bingo card. I won't be reading Shon Faye's book as part of my feminism, thanks very much.

This response, from another ex-WEP member, is much more realistic IMO about the limits of inclusion and about the importance of sex in some areas of life eg intimate spaces and sports - and of the difficulty of talking reasonably when TRAs are so vitriolic:

What does Shon know about being a woman that women don't?

Interesting choice of subject for the photo too...presumably it shows Eddie Izzard on a 'boy mode' day then?

They are completely useless: a wasted vote. Not going to get anywhere and also no use to women (whom they can't define) if they do.

The only parties I know that recognise biological reality, and support women's right to single-sex spaces etc, are the Social Democrats (SDP) and the Communists.

A lot of Tories do as well, and are speaking out more openly -- I presume because they can see how good this makes them look while all the other mainstream parties make fools of themselves.

Article from 2014, back when men could wear make up and not feel it conferred magical properties.
