Men's issues never get comments like 'but women suffer too'

Anyone else noticed this?

There are some certain issues that disproportionately affect men, men's mental health and suicide is a big issue and it should be treated as such BUT, and as an example, I was watching clips of loose women on YouTube (god knows why), and they were talking about women and girls safety and the comments were basically 'the streets are dangerous for everybody' 'we shouldn't be demonising men and boys' 'men are at risk too', the next clip I watched was titled 'should we speak to our sons about mental health' and the topic was about male mental health specifically, not once did any of the loose women say anything like 'but what about women and girls, they suffer with mental health and suicide too'.

It's just a really interesting observation I think, and that's just one example, but it's pretty much always the case, we get to discuss men's issues and men's issues only, but when it's women's issues, we have to mention men too.

OP posts:

My feeling is that IF men could get babies without women

Then it's fairly likely given current world that all the women would be got rid of. And society would be all male with a strict hierarchy. Men and boys low in the hierarchy would be the ones for cooking house stuff childcare and sex.

CheeseMmmm · 17/11/2021 22:28

The fact that men need us to make babies. And the huge paranoia around paternity. Has been a constant massive issue for men (in general).

Hence they have looked to control the birthing units. It's been a real fucker for us overall, and still is now to a greater or lesser extent all over the world.

The only question over that is whether men would still want the odd few female slaves kept around for sex. What else would females be there for, we are sub-standard humans barely tolerated because they need us.
CheeseMmmm · 18/11/2021 01:42

Nah don't think so.

In that scenario.

Other scenarios are possible, obv!

My town has a very successful men's group which runs every Monday night to reduce isolation, help mental health and prevent suicide. Everyone I know has supported it, loads of women share links and posts about it on social media and businesses give them donations.

A women's group was set up on a Tuesday and every time it is mentioned on a local page there are people (mostly men but some women) who go crazy about the fact men are not allowed. They even continue the abuse once they are signposted to the men's group.

DBI78 · 18/11/2021 04:42

It's the same situation when people raise awareness for black lives. There's alway people saying "what about white lives?'

So for example dv affects way more women than men but when ever it comes up people always say 'don't forget men'

An interesting analogy is there's two fires - one fire affects an entire village and 100's of lives will be lost and the other affects one house and one families lives. Which do you send the bigger rescue team to?

It's not helpful to compare men and women's struggles or black peoples against white peoples because it deflects from the real issue.

AdamRyan · 18/11/2021 07:54

Babies are why I said about freezers.
There is enough frozen sperm (and embryos) for women to carry on for quite a while with no men.
Whereas without women men are fucked and die out in a generation.
Whether or not men built the world is debatable. What's not debatable is a woman produced every single one of those men. And put her health/life at risk to do so. Yet we are meant to bow down to men who "built the world". No thanks.

AdamRyan · 18/11/2021 07:56

I don't think men would get rid of women if they could. I think they'd lock a few up for shagging purposes. In a harem type of thing. Probably tell everyone how lucky those women were because all they had to do was be pampered and look beautiful.

AdamRyan · 18/11/2021 07:57

The Chaos Walking series by Patrick Ness kind of explores a world without women. I love it. But not the film. The film is pap

@FFSFFSFFS

Well - men are the proper humans aren’t they?
Nah, all foetuses start with the female XX chromosomes, hence nipples. Adam came from Eve basically. Wink

(I know it was sarcasm by the way but I still wanted to say it 🤣)

I’m pretty sure it’s well documented that women feel more empathy than men. It’s this inability to empathise that leads to misogyny like OP describes. It’s a defect that happens to be more common in men than women and one that women more frequently have to pay the price for.

KurtWilde · 18/11/2021 11:16

Every time these subjects get brought up
Male mental health
Male suicide
Domestic violence against men
Sexual assault against men

I guarantee women come along and say oh but it's worse for women.

So no, I don't agree.

AdamRyan · 18/11/2021 11:29

Noone says its worse for women.
People plop onto threads about women's issues to say "What about the men?", raise the subjects you've listed then call us misandrists.
Threads about male suicides/male abusive relationships are rarely raised directly by men but when they are, are treated sympathetically.

Sorry, on a thread about sexual assault I'm not going to spend too much time focussed on sexual assaults against men when the vast majority of victims are women and 99% of the perpetrators are men.

KurtWilde · 18/11/2021 11:38

I rest my case.

This is an example of bias confirmation.

Saying the majority of victims are women and the majority of perpetrators are men is a fact.
We wouldn't say that men discussing suicide is an attempt to claim victimhood.
Thank you for proving the point of the thread.

It must've been somewhat embarrassing having the name P. Ness when the register was called!
Naunet · 19/11/2021 08:18

You must have missed the bit where the president of the most powerful country in the world spoke out about the '1 in 5' women

Yeah your right, none of the female American presidents have ever spoken out on men’s health or safety…..

WhiteVanWoman91 · 19/11/2021 21:20

Yeah your right, none of the female American presidents have ever spoken out on men’s health or safety…..

Given that US women vote more than men, you have to assume that most don't actually want a woman leading the country. It would make sense as the vast majority of women prefer male bosses at work.

WhiteVanWoman91 · 19/11/2021 21:51

Feminists protesting against a men's issues talk covering male suicide...

Thelnebriati · 19/11/2021 22:02

I knew that would be the Warren Farrell 2012 protest.

CheeseMmmm · 19/11/2021 22:31

Who is Warren Farrell and what has he been up to for the last decade?

CheeseMmmm · 19/11/2021 22:44

Googled him and came up

Father of the men's rights movement

Looked at some quotes etc

Why were the women protesting?

CheeseMmmm · 19/11/2021 22:48

Reading a bit more he sounds quite interesting. I doubt I'll agree with him much but still interesting.

WhiteVan you've read the myth of male power? What did you make of it?
