The soldiers were joking about her murder on Facebook.

Crying with laughter: soldiers joked about mother’s ‘murder’ on Facebook

I'm just speechless at this. They should all be jailed. The worst example of inhumanity I have seen in a long time. They were posting ghost emojis and gifs of a cartoon child crying at a funeral. How do they sleep at night?

That poor woman and her daughter. What the hell is going on in the British Army? There needs to be a huge inquiry.

That is appalling. I really hope something is done, but I doubt it will be.

In a septic tank.

I mean that is just so upsetting and sums the whole attitude up.

But variations on this, with various organised groups overseas eg peacekeepers, soldiers, charity workers etc etc etc is pretty common and we only hear about a small amount of it.

I couldn't read the whole article due the the paywall but what I did see is absolutely appalling. How utterly awful. Poor poor woman. Why weren't the men who killed her investigated and prosecuted?

They rarely are.

Not the first time. By far. Sadly won't be the last.

Not quite sure why my post above was deleted. Guessing because I posted a link. I’ll not link again but the Times article mentions a crowd fund started by MP Jess Phillips to raise funds for Agnes’ daughter.

Here is Jess's Twitter post with more information.

I'm appalled and angered by this case.

It is truly appalling, it made me feel really disillusioned. I had heard about 14 years ago that men in the army behaved atrociously on training exercises in Kenya but nothing prepared me for this level of depravity. Poor Agnes. Great journalism from The Times too.

What the hell did I just read? That is absolutely horrifying.

Thanks for the share token.

I'd also posted the crowd funder. I guess you can search for it if you want to donate.

It was bad enough that it happened in the first place, but for them to all be finding it so amusing. Fucking hell.

Thank you for the hint re the crowdfunder. I've been hoping there would be one.

I've been following this story and it makes my blood boil.
The contempt, the institionalised misogyny, the expectation that the British Army can behave like this with impunity because the locals should just be glad for the money.
And also the fact that decent men in junior roles try to do the right thing and it's crushed by higher-ups.
Absolutely shameful.

Awful, this story just gets worse.
