The soldiers were joking about her murder on Facebook.
Crying with laughter: soldiers joked about mother’s ‘murder’ on Facebook

I'm just speechless at this. They should all be jailed. The worst example of inhumanity I have seen in a long time. They were posting ghost emojis and gifs of a cartoon child crying at a funeral. How do they sleep at night?
That poor woman and her daughter. What the hell is going on in the British Army? There needs to be a huge inquiry.

In a septic tank.
I mean that is just so upsetting and sums the whole attitude up.
But variations on this, with various organised groups overseas eg peacekeepers, soldiers, charity workers etc etc etc is pretty common and we only hear about a small amount of it.

I'm appalled and angered by this case.

It is truly appalling, it made me feel really disillusioned. I had heard about 14 years ago that men in the army behaved atrociously on training exercises in Kenya but nothing prepared me for this level of depravity. Poor Agnes. Great journalism from The Times too.

I've been following this story and it makes my blood boil.
The contempt, the institionalised misogyny, the expectation that the British Army can behave like this with impunity because the locals should just be glad for the money.
And also the fact that decent men in junior roles try to do the right thing and it's crushed by higher-ups.
Absolutely shameful.
