Marion Millar case discontinued!!!!!!

Great news!!

How ever I am very angry that it went this far. The bullying of Marion and other women like her is disgusting.

I hope this will make police forces think twice before they bully and harass women in this way.

RedToothBrush · 28/10/2021 10:13

I wonder if she will sue for damage to her reputation.

FortunaMajor · 28/10/2021 10:18

Brilliant news. Hopefully the police in Ceri's case will realise they're on to nothing before they even start.

JacquelineCarlyle · 28/10/2021 10:23

Great news - I hope she does sue them!

Redshoeblueshoe · 28/10/2021 10:24

Fabulous news

RepentBirthingPersonFucker · 28/10/2021 10:27

I hope she sues them. What happened to her needs shouting from the roof tops

Palladin · 28/10/2021 10:29

Brilliant news, but yes, it's shocking that it could go that far in the first place.

TyrannosaurusRights · 28/10/2021 10:42

Such good news for MM, but I worry this will now be swept under the carpet.

endofagain · 28/10/2021 10:45

Just saw this from Graham's email. Excellent news.
I hope she is able to make this very public and the papers will pick it up.

endofagain · 28/10/2021 10:45

Yes, I would be very happy if she kept my donation to use to sue them.
crumpet · 28/10/2021 10:47

I am an equal mix of being delighted for Marion, and bloody furious that it was allowed to happen in the first place. The complainant shout have been shown the door from the outset. And warned about vexatious complaining.

ItsSnowJokes · 28/10/2021 10:47

Its disgusting it got this far. And all the physical and mental stress this has put on MM is just unthinkable. They should be sued and hopefully this will put others off these vexatious cases.

crumpet · 28/10/2021 10:47

And yes. Very happy for my donation to be used to take this further, to hopefully prevent it happening again.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/10/2021 10:48

Doesn't there need to be an investigation now how the hell this case was ever brought? The police, whatever scottish law she was alleged to have broken, and perhaps 'vexatious litigants'?

HermioneKipper · 28/10/2021 10:49

What brilliant news.

She should sue them though, this has destroyed her life.

And the complainant should be prosecuted for wasting police time and malicious complaints/intent.

An outrage it ever went this far. Disgraceful

Purpletomato · 28/10/2021 10:51

Great news. I imagine she wants to put this behind her now but it would be good if this was investigated as to why the police made such poor decisions or if there was some kind of wrongful arrest or something in Scottish law that they could be sued for as it feels like Marion and her children are the only people to have suffered from this.

Robbabank · 28/10/2021 10:58

Fantastic news for Marion and her team. Pursuing this would have been highly embarrassing for the Scottish government as it would have highlighted so much of it’s dystopian thinking.
Some comments under the report on this in The Herald raise a concern that this has been strategically quashed while Glasgow is in the world’s spotlight for Cop 26 summit as protestors for a Nov 1 hearing in the same city at the same time, would have drawn unwelcome scrutiny from assembled international media. Leaving scope for charges to be brought again when things are quieter and intl media has dispersed.
I sincerely hope this won’t be the case. Having Joanna Cherry QC representing Marion’s defense and the counter arguments that would have been examined re her human rights would have shown up the SNP govt’s weaponisation of their ‘progressive’ policies in a very negative light.
Will be toasting Marion and her team tonight!

secular111 · 28/10/2021 11:31

I suspected this was going to be the result.

The appearance at Court when the charges were finally provided to Joanna Cherry QC an hour before the hearing and then her application for postponement to investigate the Human Rights Act abuses, and process failings...

By then it was clear that the trap had been set and The Crown Office had walked straight into it.

Then there was the selection of David McKie of Levy & McRae. Not particularly known for being a criminal LLP, but highly-regarded for pursuing damage claims.

I reckon matters will switch to Civil proceedings now. A few perfunctory letters, then the writs will be issued against The Crown Office/Police Scotland.

In turn prosecutors will pursue the angle that they were being manipulated, so I won't be surprised if the 'Met' are asked to knock on one particular chaps door and have him returned to Edinburgh up the A1.

Others have noticed; even supposedly 'supportive' TRA Tweet threads are being dominated by those in opposition now. Those who just don't like homophobia are making a line in the sand now and not allowing the nutters to cross it.

PostingForTheFirstTime · 28/10/2021 13:14

Article on the case in the Herald. Makes her sound like a really appalling person.

But the BTL comments are heartening (even if some of them are hate crimes themselves).

What was she alleged to have said? Can't find it on Google for some reason
vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 28/10/2021 13:42

We don't know Felix.

And, because the case is still technically open I don't suppose she can talk about it.

Smart move, prosecutors.

SirChenjins · 28/10/2021 13:47

Hoo-bloody-rah - about time too. Hopefully this is the very beginnings of the tide turning. the far-too-loud voices of the transactivist nutters need to be wheeshed. Absolute shame on the SG.

Maybe a protest about the way the case has been handled while the media are so prevalent could be handy? Or would that be breaking another law?

Smart move, prosecutors.

Isn't it just how the Scottish legal system works rather than any sort of (belated) 'smart move' by the prosecutors?
