Just saw the interview on GMB. It has struck me for a long time that there are hundreds of male ISIS fighters who are British citizens who have been allowed back and prosecuted where appropriate, even without grooming being a factor, and having been directly involved in killing. It’s hardly even reported. But this one woman has been vilified by the British people and British media, and made the figurehead of all that is wrong with ISIS. Her British citizenship has been stripped for populism.

Why is this one woman being held to different standards? What is the difference here between her and the hundreds of men who have been accepted back?

PorcelinaV, If that were the measure then every Western Intelligence officer who helped funnel weapons to ISIS fighters would be stateless, too.

Treason is actually a highly subjective measure. It is actually trotted out every time a government gets embarrassed by some whistleblower by exposing some illegal behaviour.
Also, giving a state the power to strip a citizen of their citizenship without even a day in court is a halllmark of a tyranny.

It's not "highly subjective" when you join an enemy state or pseudo-state. Especially when it's committed to rape and murder worldwide.

It's crystal clear that she is a traitor.

She was committed in theory to the subjugation / murder of all British people.

She is committed to killing us all, but we owe her something? I don't think so. That's lunacy.

Our governments supported f‘ing ISIS against Assad at the same time ffs.

More generally speaking and even if in this specific case one feels stripping the citizenship is justified: ‚Enemy state‘ is quite an arbitrary concept. Government A may deem some State an enemy while subsequently Government B ( or even still Government A) may make it an ally (thinking of the Soviets in WWIi). These things are fluid and it can even happen that one‘s own Government becomes the unjust one. I believe the rights of citizens should be above that.

Having lived through the second Iraq war as well as peak TRA crazyness, I do not trust the Government to always get things right. Whoever questioned the (provable) lies of the government was called a harmful traitor who was fine with e.g. London being eradicated by Iraqi bombs.
I can easily see a TRA crazed Government invoke ‚the genocide of trans people‘ (by refusing to play along with the delusion) to call people traitors.

I think citizen rights should be bigger than governments‘ (often self-interested) claims of treason and harm.

It's an enemy state because it's committed to war against everyone that doesn't share their ideology.
