Excellent comments by Amanda Knox on the film “Stillwater” that claims to be inspired by her story.

@MapGirlExtraordinaire

She's a young woman, a beautiful one who apparently liked sex. Of course they're allowed to exploit her.

We do not know if she likes sex though.
We DO know that the Italian press, police and criminal justice system wanted us to believe that she likes sex. Enough to kill for it. Think about that for a moment.
What she was really was young, foreign, and female.
I was in Italy at the time - shame on Italian media at that time. It was a disgrace, and obvious even at the time what was at the heart of it.

I don''t have a problem with "inspired by" type stories - almost teh whole Law and Order series is based on that kind of thing, sometimes fairly closely - but I do think that it indicates some discretion should be used in terms of referring to the real people. It is notable to me that on L&O they always pointed out that they were made-up characters, even when it was clear to the viewer what the story was inspired by.

Film and literature are in a weird place now generally though - half the literary novels seem to be creative auto-biographies and you have films like Ammonite that claim to actually be biographical while being almost completely fabricated. It's all very post-modern.

Thought Matt Damon was better than this

Matt “my daughter had to tell me to stop using the word f*** in 2021” Damon?

@whiteroseredrose

I need to have a listen to those podcasts and remind myself.

However, when Amanda Knox was released consensus round here was that she'd 'got away with it'. Everyone was convinced that she was still guilty but there was some kind of political pressure.

This isn't just her story, it is Meredith's story. And her family's story. I feel more sorry for them if this is dragged up again.

Oh well, that's OK then. As long as your mates think she's guilty...
