Male police officer who is about to work in a team dealing with rape and serial offences spies on a female police officer in the shower. Denies it, lies that he was looking for his razor, which is roundly disbelieved.
Despite all of the promises about protecting women since Wayne Couzens, he is still not jailed! I am feeling even less with the police safe tonight.

The father-of-two has a degree in Chinese and Spanish, speaks seven languages and was promoted to sergeant just three years after joining the Met
Oh, well. That puts an entirely different complexion on it. Can't send a fine, upstanding, multilingual chap like that to prison, can we? And he's a daddy, too: mustn't punish the kids...

It seems the judge considered it to be at the higher end of the scale for sentencing since he gave a custodial sentence (albeit suspended), Most convictions for voyeurism would receive a community order.
Suspended sentences are often seen by those working on rehabilitation as more effective than time actually in prison as there are a bunch of requirements that can be put on someone on a suspended sentence that last for the entire time of the suspension, not just the length of the sentence.
Prison tends to be very poor at rehabilitation so if you have a non-violent crime and a first time offender, it's rarely going to be in the best interests of the public (including women) to use it.

I was confused because I thought he'd got off this charge last week... But I see now this is just a very similar case... FfS
