Why are some men such pricks?

I've just come in from our local high street with my 13 year old DD. We were crossing a road at the the top of the high street, carefully, when two young men beeped the horn behind us, laughing, saying "it's a road" etc etc.
I was enraged and called them a pair of pricks.
I tried to walk away but they carried on goading so I gave them the middle finger.
They continued to try to goad me but I went into a shop to calm down.
How dare they try to intimidate me!
If it had only been one of them in the car, neither would have had the nuts to say anything, nor would it had happened if I was a man.
I'm just so angry.

I really don't know. I can't imagine getting pleasure from intimidating another person, but a great number of men seem to love it.
