Menopause training for the workplace

findyourbacon · 20/06/2021 08:58

My work place have promised some menstruation and menopause awareness training in the near future. They have asked suggestions from staff members. Does anyone know any sensible organisations that would deliver this kind of training?

Thank you

Just bumping this in case anyone can help!

When this topic was introduced at work, there was talk about 'people who menstruate' and 'people who go through the menopause' , so I'm really keen to make some suggestions of training providers who will use the word women.

Have a look at Henpicked. I watched one of their webinars and they seemed sensible but i haven't checked them recently

www.missmenopause.co.uk/
Miss Menopause has been to my employer several times. The spaces always fill up and I've not managed to attend but my colleague said it was very good.

Thank you for starting this. I’m on the lookout for providers that focus on supporting women’s health at the workplace too.

We had Henpicked, they were good. But they did mention transwomen and in the second link below they quite Global Butterflies another one I've listened too and felt patronised by. I think everyone is captured.

Comparing oranges and apples again. What similarities can there possibly be with someone giving themselves hormones their bodies don't need and women's reproductive systems switching off?
Give me strength .

Crikey, I'm going through very unpleasant menopause symptoms at the moment. I think it might finish me off if I went to work menopause training, and it was based on this:

"At Henpicked: Menopause in the Workplace, our focus is on menopause.
There are so many reasons why it’s urgent and important for employers to take it seriously. It can cause symptoms that happen as a result of significant hormonal change.

And hormonal changes can also be experienced during other times of life, such as when undergoing fertility treatment, hormonal treatments, or caused by certain illnesses. It’s a much wider community than we often realise. We need to make sure we’re fully inclusive in all our conversations around menopause.

Trans and non-binary people can experience menopausal symptoms due to changes in hormones. These can fluctuate, as treatments can often stop and start again. And it’s important for employers to understand that for those undergoing a medical transition, the whole process takes up to seven years."

JuneJustRains · 22/06/2021 00:13

Well, born-female trans people do need to know that monkeying about with their hormones is going to cause side effects, but that sounds a more specialist area — that should perhaps be covered by their medical team, not in a general information session.

Ah, bugger. Sorry OP, I’ve probably doomed this thread to be moved to S&G now. Hey ho.

I'm so confused by the new boards!

I've got no problem with them talking about any kind of female going through menopause, but males taking opposite sex hormones is not menopause, regardless of the side effects

This!

And this is why it doesn't make sense to have separate boards. Menopause should be a topic which has nothing to do with gender identity and yet, again it is not the GC feminists who are pushing for it to be included even here. So fed up of this.

EBearhug · 22/06/2021 18:25

The TUC has a load of stuff about menopause policies.
