Arlene Foster suing Dr Christian

Apparently he tweeted that she was having an affair (without any proof), and the way he put it was a spiteful little jibe about her being a “sanctity of marriage preaching woman” adding “it always comes back to bite them on the arse”
Now I understand he might have an issue with her as I think she was against same sex marriage. But this man always strikes me as an arrogant twat and a nasty piece of work.

I tried to post the link but I’m such a technophobe! it’s on BBC news website

It would be terrible if someone donated a pound to Jessen's fundraiser, just so they could leave a comment about how much property Jessen owned.

C0nstance · 01/06/2021 22:55

That occurred to me too

EmeraldShamrock · 01/06/2021 23:55

@allmywhat

I just looked at his fundraiser and there's a recent comment from a pensioner who "sacrificed a few luxuries" to donate 50 pounds because he likes Jessen's TV
I saw that. He is disgusting preying on the less fortunate or those politically hurt to fund his fuck up, he should be very ashamed by his actions.

Wandering off topic a bit:
www.irishnews.com/news/2018/06/27/news/driver-of-a-school-bus-blown-up-by-an-ira-tells-of-personal-heartache-30-years-on-1366818/

I didn't know that about the bus driver's son. So sad. That's why we had to have (broadly, as a country; understandable for many individuals not to) forgiveness or acceptance anyway. It was just becoming a destructive spiral of misery, rage, revenge, helplessness, physical and mental collateral damage to whole extended families and communities all over the country with an "R number" that would put Indian variant covid in the shade....if both "sides" dug deeper into their trenches it would have just gone on and on and on forever.

Arlene was on the front page of the Newsletter yesterday, pointing out that Poots has to get on with an Irish language act and that the DUP has to move on and be a "bigger tent" as she put it. Doug Beattie has also spoken strongly along these lines. I think both of those two seem to care about the country- or ar least the Union anyhow- more than their own popularity or power. I hope that Poots and co. will act in the best interests of the country, not confident though.

Tempting ... That said, it’s really not doing that well. And I agree with others that an appeal (if he has grounds - does he?) could well make things worse. He had plenty of opportunity to produce evidence in the case of e.g. his poor mental health, but he failed to do so. And what is more, the judge called him a liar. He’s completely failed to respect the court process, so why should they let him have a second pop at it?
NiceGerbil · 02/06/2021 00:44

@FannyCann

I wouldn't shake hands with Martin McGuiness or Gerry Adams. I'm not even Irish.

I don't believe in forgiveness. Too often these days it doesn't involve any serious repentance on the part of the guilty party. Mostly it's a sweeping under the rug, times have moved on, forgive and forget.

I'm still cross about the Rainbow Warrior. Though I do love holidays in France. Confused

Well yes you would have trouble as Martin McGuiness is dead.

I'd shake hands with anyone to further peace.

Both sides did awful things. The police/ army did terrible things.

If not believing in forgiveness means more violence and death that's counterintuitive to me.

I'd shake hands with any dictator ever for eg peace in the middle East, or the end of religious violence everywhere, or an end to the suffering of women. For example.

NiceGerbil · 02/06/2021 00:52

I think he would welcome many £1 donations with heartfelt messages, surely!

For me this is about a man with a bit of fame from TV and a swathe of grossly awful public views about women/ girls.

Who thought he could publish on his well followed trusting social media.

A massive lie of a very personal nature about a woman.

The fact that she was the first minister of a UK country didn't give him pause.

Arrogance.

Then he ignored all the court stuff.

Silly.

Then his testimony in court was seen by the judge as, um. Inadequate. To say the least.

He got the book thrown at him.

And he goes to the papers with snoffair like a fucking teenager. And asks others to pay his fine FFS.

This is a classic example of a man who has never grown up past about 15.

It's genuinely pathetic.

I agree @NiceGerbil. The whole power of the Good Friday/Belfast Agreement was, that people who had badly hurt each other, and who had sound reason to prolong their grievances, mutually agreed to put that aside, in the interest of peace.
It is profoundly inspiring, if you take the time to really understand what was achieved.

Hence, I can admire someone like Gusty Spence, or Arlene. I had a lump in my throat seeing the British Queen bow her head at the Garden of Remembrance. I really admire the Queen's backbone, shaking hands with McGuinness.

Of course, this is quite nuanced, and takes thought. Far more thought than can be contained in a scurrilous gossipy tweet.

NiceGerbil · 02/06/2021 01:33

I'm not NI and so don't want to comment further iyswim.

For me this was about a rank misogynist attacking a woman who was the leader of a country. And not even thinking twice about doing it.

And he got his comeuppance.

Awesome.

And now his arrogance, petulance, entitlement is such that. Rather than keeping his head down for a bit. He's whining snoffair. Asking the public to pay his fine (!?). And in the DM article seems to have essentially libelled her again.

If he had any sense he would have apologised, coughed up, gone quiet. Back in s year or 2.

His reaction , how can he do that? Has he never been told off when he's fucked up before? He's behaving like a toddler.

Does anyone have a share token for this?

PearPickingPorky · 02/06/2021 06:58

I didn't realise how 'moderate' (relatively!) Foster was compared to all the others in the DUP. It must take some real guts to deviate a little from the straight, white, misogynistic religious nutter men in her party.

I don't agree with her politically, but I am impressed by her ability to have done that. Didn't know about her father or the school bus either. What a life.

Also, thanks Arabella for sharing that DM article about migrants. It is very, very clever. There have been numerous times in the last few years or so where the DM have written excellent articles and it still catches me by surprise. Especially when it's about women's issues (feminism, or women being killed by their partners where the article squarely blames the man and talks aboutthe woman's achievements, not his). They must have some good journalists there, among the frothers and celeb nonsense.

:( I just looked at his fundraiser and there's a recent comment from a pensioner who "sacrificed a few luxuries" to donate 50 pounds because he likes Jessen's TV persona.

I can feel my loathing for this man intensifying by the second.

That makes me feel actually sick.
C8H10N4O2 · 02/06/2021 08:04

Arlene's victory is great, Arlene as a person and her party are not

Arlene as a person can be a saint or satan and she should still be able to speak on equal terms with men.

Women are retreating from the public arena in the wake of misogynistic abuse which escalates into threats and actual violence. I'm sure celebs like Jessen would posture horror at actual violence (or maybe not) whilst knowing perfectly well they are fostering the culture.

Women's rights are in retreat. The onslaught is particularly loud from misogynist liberal lefties wrapping themselves in "good causes" to justify silencing on for wrongthink.

I'm delighted that just one abusive liar at the forefront of this mug, self congratulatory middle-class school boy type of misogyny has received his come uppance.

highame · 02/06/2021 08:10

purgutory constance someone did exactly that. Wish I'd copied it because it's no longer being displayed so I guess they've refunded the fiver. Shame

endofthelinefinally · 02/06/2021 10:53

He and his partner are extremely rich and not just in property.
Taking money from pensioners is really disgusting behaviour.

The world is such a small place, lol 😂😂

This is a bit of a bump really, some threads are just wonderful

AppleJane · 03/06/2021 09:38

Does anyone have any more info on the Italian thing?! What an arse!

FannyCann · 03/06/2021 12:53

@AppleJane the tweet is fairly self explanatory but at the start of the pandemic last year, when Italy was suddenly on its knees with overflowing ICUs and hospitals he thought a funny joke would be to suggest the lockdown gave them an opportunity for an extra long siesta. Which was not only an unsympathetic sentiment regarding the Italians but also showed a regrettable lack of understanding about the implications of coronavirus. And Italians are now enjoying the karma.

AppleJane · 03/06/2021 13:00

@FannyCann and he's a 'doctor'. Wow, just wow.
