As the title says basically....
,I'm struggling massively,
,awake from early hours just dreading the day ,
nothing to dread ,but it gets worse as the sun comes up.
On and off through out the day ..a horrible churning feeling of fear ..
I'm barely leaving the house .
All the things I've used to do I don't now
About to start CBT and counselling, but was looking to try supplements too
It's the thought of places being busy and having to deal with people causing it
,which obviously is ridiculous and frustrating,as I don't live on a dessert island.
I'm already taking plenty of vitamins..I'm thinking of trying saffron or 5htp or CBD gummies.but they are all expensive so thought I'd ask if anyone recommend anything
thankyou for reading

L-theanine

Xenomoth · 08/06/2025 16:38

Definitely ashwaghanda, especially combined with magnesium glycinate. I also think lithium orotate has helped me as well. Also l-theanine.Do you use chat gpt? It can be really helpful suggesting supplements and routines for taking them based your symptoms.

I get it from herbology uk. Another good one I’ve just thought of is Apigenin (they also sell that.) It makes me sleepy so I take at night with Valerian.

And these have helped you ...
I've never heard of Apigenin ..at this point I'm willing to try anything.
Another night where I'm awake filled with dread for the morning

I know that feeling well. I’ve had awful problems with sleep. I now take either piriton (otc) or promethazine (prescribed) two or three nights a week and then take valerian, melatonin, agigenin the other nights. Honestly I think it’s so so hard if you are not sleeping to do anything to help anxiety.

Ashwagandha should only be taken for a maximum of three months as long term use can cause acute liver damage and injury.

Longhotsummers · 09/06/2025 18:34

Wills Powders do an antianxiety supplement. Have a look at Oh My Marks on Instagram, who reports excellent results, probably mentioned in her highlights.

Is that proven ..I did actually read something along those lines a while back ,you've just reminded me

I did a bit more reading about CBD gummies and they didn't really seem to be recommend for anxiety, more pain relief,so I didn't get any of those

I'm autistic and have ADHD ,my doctor won't give me antidepressants.she says I've tried everything over the last 30 years there is to try ,and nothing works,so I have to find other ways to manage it ..I'm about to start my 5 th lot of CBT ,that I don't want ,but doctor thinks will help me ..even though the other 4 lots didn't help .

EmeraldRoulette · 09/06/2025 19:28

@Bulldogsummer I feel like someone needs to tell your doctor that definition of madness – doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Do you actually want a fifth round of CBT?

And what is her reason for not giving you antidepressants?

Bulldogsummer · 09/06/2025 19:29

I find CBT to much of a demand, because the other person is deciding what we will talk about each session.. sometimes I just can't engage or talk about what they choose ,and it ends up being a waste ...I've asked for counselling instead, numerous times ,but it's always no ,it's CBT you need

She says I've tried everything there is to try , medication wise ,and because none of it worked, she won't try anything else ..this is over 30 years ..
She is a new doctor,I've only had her 2 years ..my previous doctor was great ,he listened to me .this doctor spends 30 minutes telling all about autism rather than listening to me .. apparently it's normal to have anxiety and depression when you have autism

Kanna works well. It's contraindicated for people taking SSRIs because it also increases serotonin, but it works better for me than SSRIs ever did.

Right, but that doesn't make it untreatable

The previous doctor didn't give you them either it sounds like? So I'm wondering if they are contraindicated for you for some reason.
