IS IT POSSIBLE TO FEEL DEPRESSED SOME OF THE TIME?

I feel ok sometimes but when I feel low I have worrying thoughts, for instance, today I was just brushing my teeth when the thought 'maybe I could just kill myself' popped into my head, and for those few seconds it seemed like an ok idea?! I don't know where it came from... I leep getting thoughts like that. But then sometimes I feel ok and am able to laugh when funny things happen etc...
I thought if you had pnd you would feel depressed all the time and not find enjoyment in anything but thats not the case with me. It's almost like I keep swinging between happyness and despair.
Anyone had anything like this? I feel like i'm a going mad

i just answered the questions and got a bad score, but i came on my af the day before yesterday so its been a bad week and i feel much better today iyswim.i have done the edinburgh scale many, many times with gp's and HV's and alot of the things in it can be put down to sleep deprivation or stress anyway.

i think it would be a good idea to see your gp.i was terrified the first time i spoke to a doctor about how i was feeling, but it was the best thing i ever did.

it could just be a case of your hormones settling down after childbirth-i can recall my first 3 cycles after having a baby being horrendous.also,PMT often worsens after having a baby(i used to get 3 days of mild irritability pre-kids,after number 5 i was getting 3 weeks of severe PMT sypmtoms before i started taking various supplements).

Thankd for the advice divastrop, suppose it's best to get some advice from gp either way, it could be my hormones but best to be sure
