Referred back to MH - psychosis

My diagnosis is recurrent psychotic depression. Just been referred back to the MH team and should see them within a week for an assessment.

I'm dreading it, I don't feel I trust them but I guess that is part of it? Feeling watched and followed, and that messages on the radio and instagram are specifically for me.

is anyone else going through anything similar? I feel so alone and family don't want to hear it.

I also have two teenage sons, a husband who works a lot and elderly parents with dementia. Everyone has their own stuff and doesn't want to hear.

I feel like a burden to everyone and low. I wish I was just normal. they are increasing my olanzapine so will go out and get that later.

Had a better sleep last night and feeling slightly more normal today. Wonder if the higher dose is helping. Still a bit apprehensive of noises outside etc.

It seems to get worse as the day goes one. Trying to be really careful with anything which can make things worse such as too much caffeine, not drinking alcohol etc.

Being honest, I'm a sarcastic bitch really

Not sure why you feel the need to come here being sarcastic etc? it's making me feel worse stuff like that, I don't feel I trust people in general atm.

That’s good the higher dose is working. I wish I could sleep but I’m really struggling these days due to menopause.

I sometimes wear dark glasses and a baseball cap when I go out to make me feel a bit sort of hidden and kind of protected. I know that sounds daft but if it works why not! We do what we have to do to get by.

I hope you keep noticing improvements as the higher doses continue. But do still go to your appointment even if you start feeling better.

Good plan to avoid things that may be triggers. There are artificial sweeteners in everything these days and I’m sure they are bad for my gut health so I’m avoiding those. I’m even baking my own cakes so I know what’s in them!

I'm also in perimenopause wonder how much that has to do with this? I'm on HRT though.

If you take your meds at night then it makes sense if the psychosis worsens as the day goes on - you’re metabolising it through the day so will likely be worst right before your next dose before it wears off.

Youre doing so well, stick with the meds and do see the therapists offered. Don’t feel guilt about the appointment - if someone else needed it more than you they would simply go to a different doctor as an emergency patient. And you deserve help too.

Perhaps discuss the HRT with the GP too? They may recommend an increase. If there’s a specialist menopause doctor at your practice ask to see them.

Please ignore any rude posters making you feel worse. Some people are, frankly, incredibly stupid. Those people aren’t worth your time.

Thanks- yes there is a GP who helps with the menopause, I might ask them although the dose I am on has helped with the hot flushes so I guess it is working. I do get lower moods in the progesterone phase though (and more tired but I think that is common)

That is a good point about the meds, particularly if it is this orodispersable one

I will just ignore people being 'sarcastic'- bit strange to post on the MH board with that kind of thing. Doesn't help.

Just had a quick google and found this. The GP with an interest in menopause is in the next couple of days so I might ask them, maybe to increase the dose.

At least will be able to tell them that at the psych appt in case they suggest trying it (not sure how much MH team will know about HRT)

My mum, not own HRT had a severe psychotic episode at the same age and was sectioned, wonder if that was related to the menopause.
