2023/24 SAD thread

Hi again, I’m back for another year ☹️. I can’t see that anyone has started a SAD thread yet but today seems to be the day that it’s really kicking in! So here’s another thread to support each other through winter 🥶.

Just to introduce myself, I have regular depression with SAD on top, an eating disorder and ASD (a fun combination).

All are welcome, the only rule is no one is allowed to mention, hygge, snuggling or being cosy!

@Idratherbepaddleboarding I hope you had a super birthday with glimmers of sun. Hopefully, proper Spring is on the way. X

@lyingonthebeach thanks it was a lovely birthday 😊. I’m having some sort of existential crisis this week though. Why do we work all week just to pay bills, it’s so stupid! There’s definitely too much work and not enough fun in life and certainly no time for rest! It was pay day yesterday and watching the bank balance just drain on bills is seriously depressing ☹️. Plus it’s been miserable weather all week and I’m so sick of being cold 😡.

It's bright and sunny today. Is a decent spring really a possibility (desperate hopefulness taking over)?

It’s been bright and sunny all week here but it clouded over just as I was leaving work yesterday and today is absolutely freeeeeezing!

I spoke/wrote too soon.......... it's depressingly grey and wet here 😢

and now it's even greyer and wetter. I have completely crashed! I feel tired and slow and weepy!

Another day of rain. It’s been raining constantly since Sunday 😭. I honestly feel like ringing in sick (I won’t!).

@Idratherbepaddleboarding It's a nightmare isn't it.

Raining and windy all the time.

I do think my energy levels are picking up with the longer days - but I feel very bored and trapped. I have to get out in this weather as I don't drive - but it is a nuisance. My neighbour was telling me this weather makes her miserable walking the dog.

I am not in the depths of SAD, just really bored and grumpy I guess.

Just wondering - today it was grey, then an hour or so of sun/blue sky and now it's grey again. Temperature was not really different. My mood and spirits were noticeably different during the grey/blue.

Am I the only one?

@Idratherbepaddleboarding No, same here.... and don't quote me on this, but I think I heard we only use a limited amount of light for actually seeing things. The rest of it we need for brain function or something?

@EmmaEmerald I think that was meant for @lyingonthebeach but I’ve heard the same as that’s why SAD lamps work.

It’s been the same here, grey one minute and sunny the next and I feel like 2 different people! I was starting to worry I had bipolar!

It's just turned sunny now...I've been tired and discombobulated and working badly all day. Not quite sure what to do now... typical my brain engages at a time I could, in theory, clock off...

It’s been awful here for the we last few days, raining, blowing a gale and sooooo cold. DH dragged us out to watch a rally and I almost cried I was so cold. I probably would have if the sertraline would allow me to cry. It’s supposed to be spring! I’m absolutely sick of it.

I hear you. There have been moments (and I do mean mere moments) of sunshine which reminded me of the Spring days of yore but right now it's is cold and grey and I want to cry! It feels never ending!

@lyingonthebeach it’s actually been a gorgeous day today. I was even warm walking the dog in just leggings and a hoodie! Back to normal tomorrow 😭 but at least the dog and I got a little vitamin D while DS played golf.

It's supposed to be Spring. It's been grey and cold all day. Then it rained and now it's howling a gale :(

I am on the max vitamin D and the SAD light is never off!

I know right! I think the sun did come out briefly today but I was stuck in the office and by the time I got home it was grey, cold and windy again 😡.

OMG!! Spring has sprung here! I’m so happy 😀. Hope you’re all having lovely weather too.

We actually woke up to snow yesterday morning!! About 2inches of the damn stuff. Grrrr

@LittleBowSheep wow! Whereabouts are you? Spring only lasted half a day, it’s raining now 🙈.
