AIBU to think the world would be better off without me?

Just that really. I have done a lot of bad and stupid things in my life, and have ended up with no close friends or family, apart from my adult dc who is almost totally dependent on me, no money, a job that I hate and renting a flat. I live in a place where it would be very easy to commit suicide, and that might be best. My dc would HAVE to get their life together then, and/or their father would have to help, he doesn't show any interest now.

Hi Helplessandhopeless,

We're really sorry to hear you're feeling this way.

We hope you don't mind, but when these threads are flagged up to us we usually add a link to our Mental Health resources - there are lots of organisations listed which can give you some help right now, so please take a look.

You can also go to the Samaritans website, or email them on [email protected], or phone, anytime, on 116 123. Support from other Mumsnetters is great and we really hope you'll be able to take some comfort from your fellow posters, but as other MNers will tell you, it's really a good idea to seek real life help and support as well.

We also like to remind everyone that, although we're awed daily by the astonishing support our members give each other through life's trickier twists and turns, we'd always caution anyone never to give more of themselves to another poster, emotionally or financially, than they can afford to spare.

We're moving this thread over to our Mental Health topic now.

Sending good wishes, OP. Flowers

[quote manitobajane]**@helplessandhopeless* nobody thinks that you want anything from anybody, @JoMumsnet* was meaning for posters not to give more emotionally and that is something we can need reminding off from time to time.

People care and want to help, perhaps rethink getting your thread deleted, it's now in the mental health section which is much kinder than AIBU and people will help if you need them too.

That's exactly right, manitobajane - we have to post a standard message like this whenever threads like this are flagged up to us. It's absolutely nothing personal, helplessandhopeless, so please don't let this take anything away from the support you're receiving from Mumsnetters on your thread.

We do always move sensitive threads like this one out of AIBU, which can be a bit harsh at times, and into our Mental Health topic because it's generally a more supportive place to post.

We hope you'll be okay with leaving the thread to stand, now we've explained.

Take care Flowers
