There's so much support out there nowadays. You don't sound like you're getting it at home? It can be hard for those close to you to know what to do. Please take the step to get help.

I get so low I think right tomorrow I have to make an appointment I can’t carry on like this
Then I have a good day and I think I can do this by myself so I don’t make the appointment
I’ll have a few good days but then I have a set back and the cycle starts again

I’m not hungry I had cookies and hot chocolate at 7
But the only thing wrong is me, I’ve never had friends since I was 8 years old, I know loads of people, they can’t all be wrong it must be me

Make an appointment to see a different doctor, life can feel like there is a cloud over you but it does get better.

Starwednesday · 15/12/2018 23:28

Thanks to everyone that’s listened I feel a little better letting it out

Is it me or is the ice cube game and spin the bottle a bit inappropriate? Or is my judgement clouded by my mood

He may not be ignoring you, he may just not know what to say. When I was depressed and anxious, I would snap at my DW when she was trying to help me and it wasn't the 'perfect' response. I can see now that her 'silence' was her own coping mechanism.

In a similar way, I'm sure you have friends but they may not know how to reach out to you.

Spartak · 15/12/2018 23:31

Yes, it's inappropriate. I'd be annoyed about that too.

CuriousMama · 15/12/2018 23:32

I'm off to bed now but will check back in tomorrow.

If you're on Facebook check out the Mad diet page. It's amazing how much supplements can help. There's a book too. I have it on kindle. Not just for weight loss it's for depression too.

Night pet.

CuriousMama · 15/12/2018 23:33

Oh I would have refused the games. Sounds vile.

JumpersForGoalposts · 15/12/2018 23:33

Is it me or is the ice cube game and spin the bottle a bit inappropriate?

Yes, totally.....

Starwednesday · 15/12/2018 23:33

No I really have no friends, I thought I was friends with someone at work so I asked her out for a drink and she said she wasn’t sure because it’s wet and cold and she doesn’t like going out in the winter and she would let me know, she never got back to me then went out with someone else
So back to square one, no friends

Some gps are reluctant to deal with depression at a first appointment, they like to see a pattern of depression before they consider medication. What that may mean for you is to go back to your gp, or a different one in the practice and tell them again. I know thats really difficult for you, but could you email your gp about how you are depressed but find it difficult talking to them.? If you email the surgery they will forward your email to your gp, then make an appointment for a few days later. Have you thought about CBT. I didn't think much of it as i was doing it but à few months afterwards i really appreciated it. If you can afford it, private couselling might be helpful too. You can find counsellors working privately in your area on an online search. Don't suffer in silence. If your leg was broken you would need it fixing, its the same with our heads. I feel for you as i've been there, but i did come out the other side with help, so can you i'm sure.

CuriousMama · 15/12/2018 23:36

Huddx · 15/12/2018 23:37

The same thing happened with me and a doctor a few years back.. was horrible as it took a couple years courage to finally go to the doctors. A year after that I changed doctors and the second doctor was amazing and really helped me. Please try with another doctor again. It's hard but if someone else can help it will be worth it Thanks

I saw a self referral thing online for mental health services in my town, I should fill out the form but I never do because I think I can do this by myself
