Been doing so well with my PND and really coming out of it, but last few days have been a bit :-(

Getting fed up with my weight - I need to lose 2.5st to get back to pre DS weight but I just don't have motivation. Am tired all the time (am not anaemic or have thyroid probs) and just can't be bothered to do anything for myself iyswim?

so much can depend on many variables, wabbit

the position you are in

the position the baby is in

your mindset

any pain killers you have had

being restricted in how you can move

etc.......

labour can pause, but often this is called failure to progress and leads to intervention, also, being told you are not progressing, being given a VE, being disheartened, in a noisy , bright environment can stop the hormonal release that gets you into established labour

how dilated were you ? 3 cm? if so, might have been to soon, especially if not mobile epi and you were stuck on the bed, with monitor and drip

it does make a difference, being upright and active, working with the contractions, especially in early labour to help get baby down is important....i had an epidural too early on with DS, at 2 -3 cm, had diamorphine too..had spent the entire labour on a bed, immobile..and i failed to progress ,.there;s a surprise!

NikkiBFG · 14/06/2007 20:50

I think next time I want a quiet (but bright enough to lipread!) room to have baby in...no bright lights, calm, relaxing...lots of movement by walking around and I'll try to stay at home a bit longer next time too....

Saw a woman on telly giving birth with just a dim light and tbh, it looked really peaceful...

Oh and I want Lulu as my doula...would she charge that much extra for coming to Bristol you think??!!

as long as no more references to bucket fadges ! ok ??

how did the medical staff cope with you being hard of hearing? did they treat you with dignity and respect ?

To be honest, they didn't even mention my disability...I was fine in beginning as the staff were easy to lipread and wasn't all scrunched up with pain, but near the end it became a HUGE strain on DH as he had to translate a lot of it for me i.e when I was having the epidural, the anaesthetist was giving instructions, let me know if you have contraction etc and DH was facing me and repeating all of it...he was abolutely white at the end of it and eyes really sunken in....I can remember looking at him all gowned up and thinking God he looks ill! He's still traumatised tbh...

The actual C section was crap because I couldn't hear or see anything...they didn't drop the screen when they lifted DS out so couldn't see him cry for first time...I needed to see him cry to hear him, if that makes sense....prob one of the reasons I felt detached in the beginning....

I couldn't think of anything better than you as a Doula actually lulu and I'm not just saying that! I wouldn't talk bucket fadges...the only thing is my hearing aid does squeak during contractions....minor point in the whole scheme of things but not when DH said to me oh you keep squeaking when I was contracting.....gave him a look that caused his nads to shrivel with fright!!!

bless you nicki

the first cry is very important....we got DDs on film !! after the first bad experience, we got wise second time

it is really good you are getting things sorted and cleared up

definitely see someone about your notes about the odd contracting bit...

i will be your on line doula !! your too wabbit !

NikkiBFG · 14/06/2007 21:47

I didn't hear it

Oh hum..moving on to more cheerful things before I blub into the keyboard, I mean deafness is not the worst disability is it!!

I want another one but DH says no not yet! We have sort of agreed to TTC in January so that gives me time to get work sorted, come off AD's etc...but part of me wants to start trying now....I could always 'forget' to take my pill for a while couldn't I?????

The squeaking is the bane of my life...I squeak when people cuddle me, I squeak during sex, I squeak when I'm in labour....frigging hell maybe I should be renaming myself squeakalot on here!!

TMI....probably!!!

oooh,,brave wabbit..am far too PC to do anything like that !! Eeeeek !

nicki..have a good cry, tis good for the soul

and no getting pregnant 'accidentally'

enjoy your DS and get yourself truly well x

NikkiBFG · 14/06/2007 21:53

No, not patronising at all! I have to think of the positives or I'd get ughh and wouldn't be good company on mnet!

And vibrating is a very good positive, along with being able to turn hearing aid off and just seeing DS scream with no sound like a silent movie!!! Pass the popcorn!

Oh feck..DH just text and ask me to record My name is Earl on the DVD recorder...feck....bet I end up taping some random prog....

Back in a mo!!
