i would contact a gp or your hv they can prescribe you know ! if your in uk

i think the best thing you can do is always talk about it dont bottle it up

Hillls · 27/04/2007 10:38

Oh sweetheart you have alot of friends on here, doesnt matter where you are from. Do you have family around you?

Have you tried any baby & toddler groups? or local MN meet ups?

tasja · 27/04/2007 10:40

I don't drive, and the moms and tots groups is to far for me to get to.
All of my family is in SA and I'm in the UK!

i would try your local nct group or your local health centre to see if they have lists of local groups or maybe evn have groups there

tasja · 27/04/2007 10:43

Yeah, we're moving this weekend, so will look around for that at our new place

Hillls · 27/04/2007 10:46

How about going out for a walk each day, the fresh air is brilliant for the mind, also it will be an opportunity to meet new mums. What part of Enland are you in? perhaps one of us is local to you, I'd love to meet up with you for a cup of tea if you are near me. XX

dressedupnowheretogo · 27/04/2007 10:46

i would also tell a gp how your feeling

dressedupnowheretogo · 27/04/2007 10:47

tasja · 27/04/2007 10:47

Hi tasja, sorry you are feeling this way. Symptoms of PND are:

feelings of worthlessness or guilt
poor concentration
loss of energy and fatigue
loss or increase of appetite and weight
disturbed sleep pattern
slowing down both physically & mentally
agitation (restlessness or anxiety)
thoughts of suicide or preoccupation with death

These are also classic depression symptoms. If you tick any of these boxes, especially the latter then you might want to have a word with your gp or hv. Don't feel ashamed, it is very common and you'll feel so much better if you get help, if you need it.

Loneliness is a big contributing factor imo. There's all sorts of m&t things you can join but also just chatting on here can really help. You're not alone .

Hillls · 27/04/2007 10:55

Oh sweetheart I'm not close but I would drive up and see you, you sound like a lovely person. I know there's alot of MNetters in Northampton and Milton Keynes,

Northampton meet ups

Have a look at the link perhaps you could join in?

tasja · 27/04/2007 10:58

Tears tears tears

I esspecially suffer from feelings of worthlessnes and guilt
Loss of energy and increase of food - getting fat

Oh sweetheart, I think you have alot of emotion at the moment as you have nobody around you and no support, it is very difficult bringing up little ones especially that first year, you have done so well!!

You need to have a chat with your gp or Health visitor, just let them know how you are feeling, they can support you in so many ways Things wil get better, I promise.

tasja · 27/04/2007 11:07

Thanks Hillls. I've posted a thread on the meet-ups to see if someone is there.

Can we chat? What do you do for a living? How many children do you have?

sorry if I'm forward, just want to think about something els, and don't wanna pack boxes

OP posts:
Hillls · 27/04/2007 11:10

No problem tasja

I'm a sahm but I also work from home too (boring accountancy) I'm 24 and I have two little girls who are 3 and 14 months, my 3 year old is a lovely little thing but drives me mad with her whining and my 14 month old thinks she can climb a tree

What do you enjoy doing? Have you been in the UK for long?

castlesintheair · 27/04/2007 11:10

You've taken the 1st step (and the hardest one). See how you feel after chatting on here and once you've met some other mums. If there's no improvement, go and see your gp. Hope you feel better soon.

GandWJ · 27/04/2007 11:14

Hi Tasja, just a friendly hello from me too
