My DD sounds like your 14month old. She just wants to climb everywhere.

We came to the UK on the 20th of January 2004. We lived in London for a year and 7 months. Then my husband got a job in Bugbrook (Northampton) so we moved here. I couldn't get a job so I went to live with friends during the week, and came back over weekends to my hubby. I worked as a security guard at the QE2 Conference Centre.
When I fell pregnant I still worked there to get my maternity leave.
I'm a childminder now, but haven't had kids to look after yet. Also one of the reasons we're moving. Main one is to get closer to DH's work.

Thanx to all of you on here!

wow security guard!!!

Its a nightmare isnt it when they want to climb, they cock that leg and get up on anything! Being a childminder must be wonderful, you will certainly get to meet plenty of mums that way. There are alot of big meet ups going on at the moment you must join in

I know Northampton & Milton Keynes, lots of lovely villages.

Do you have any hobbies?

tasja · 27/04/2007 11:24

My hobbies are scrapbooking and making cards. Can't wait to get into new house, I will have a whole room to myself for my scrapbooking and cardmaking.

And shopping, I love love love to shop!

and cooking and baking.

Oh yeah, I'm 28.

What hobbies do you have?

Hillls · 27/04/2007 11:28

Oh you are in the best place for shopping! Have you been to Milton Keynes for shopping? its huge you will need a week to get around it all

I've never made my own cards but always wanted too, not that I cant just never got around to it. I like shopping too and walking, Gardening, We grow our own Fruit and Veg in the garden, oh and I love prams, big coach built ones.

Hillls · 27/04/2007 11:29

I like baking cakes too, my dd's have alot of allergies so I had to start making our own foods, I make alot of allergy free birthday cakes.

tasja · 27/04/2007 11:31

Yes!! Have been to MK shopping centre. I love it there! But DH isn't keen on it. Doesn't like all the people there so we don't go alot.
But, I'm working on my driving skills, so one of these days I'll take my DD and go shopping on my own.
That is one thing I loved when I was growing up, my mum and I always went to the shops on a Saturday, always said I'm going to do that when I have a girl.

Cakes sounds nice. Going to make fairy cakes for DD's birthday and attempt to bake a strawberry cake for the grownups.

Must be hard with the allergies. Is it serious? (don't know of the spelling)

Hillls · 27/04/2007 11:34

Oh how lovely, yes shopping is lovely mother and daughter, my dd is a shopping addict she loves new things and is often found parading up and down the changing room in new clothes, she cant go past a pair of shoes without at least touching them

Driving is a must, great independance, nowhere is too far when you can drive, are you learning?

Hillls · 27/04/2007 11:36

Yes my dd's are anaphylactic like when someone eats a nut they could die. My dds are the same for egg, nuts, pineapple, mango, bees, wasps and much more.

It is difficult but brings a new challange on baking, how I'd love to just add an egg

What sort of things do you make?

tasja · 27/04/2007 11:39

Actualy, I can drive. Drove in SA for a year and a half before coming here. After the year and 7 months in London we got a car when we moved to Wellingborough. So never drove again. To scared to drive here. The streets are so narrow here - more wider in SA.
But, the other day I drove on the A45 to a friends house. With DH next to me, helping. So I'm getting there.

Well, I love to bake cakes - got a lovely chocolate cake one. And biscuits, tarts.

Throughing everything you can find together and making a lovely meal out of it.

AAA, feeling a bit better, thanx!

Must be very hard to have an allergy like that. Shame.

Hillls · 27/04/2007 11:43

It can be rather daunting especially in a different country, just do it bit by bit and you will soon gain more confinence, you will be zipping back and forth in no time

I learnt to drive in the dark, as I worked all day when it got around to it I found it difficult driving in daylight with so many cars on the road - sounds silly doesnt it, but I drive anywhere now.

There is lots to do in Northampton area so you will never be bored

tasja · 27/04/2007 11:46

Hillls, sorry, but I must wave you goodbye. Can hear my DD is awake now. Can't real chat when she's awake.

Must feed her now and will have to pack a few things as we are moving stuff tonight again - friends helping us with big stuff.

Will check in later again.

thanx for the chat, I'm feeling abit better.

I'm normally always in there.
