I've the most horrible day. I lost the plot over something very trivial in the grand scheme of things and ended up having a massive row with a DH. The children were upset, I was upset, DH was upset.
I have since apologised to everyone and am feeling very down about what happened. Tonight my period has started and I just know that my erratic behaviour is down to that. The week leading up to it I am a nightmare and I know it but I just cannot help it.

Has anyone else had this happen and if so what the heck can I do to change it? I can't carry on like this as I will end up divorced with 2 very sad dc's. I feel such a complete lowlife this evening. My family mean the world to me. I am just awful.😥

Yep just a bog standard b multivitamin. I've been on them for a while. I'm interested to see what it's like next month pmt wise, it's taken me by surprise a bit.

gamerchick · 26/07/2017 11:38

*i didn't originally start them for pmt so it's a bit of a bonus.

Honey1975 · 26/07/2017 11:38

Great news, hope it continues for you😊

Anyone have any recommendations for help with energy levels that are very low?
I'm absolutely floored some days.
I already take magnesium and SJW but I really need help with energy.

Ktown · 27/07/2017 07:36

The pill plus b vitamins, omega 3 and magnesium
No single thing worked but the combination did
Magnesium is the thing I notice most if I don't take it

revolution909 · 27/07/2017 07:40

My GP has suggested light exercise for lack of energy and it does work :)

Brighteyes27 · 27/07/2017 07:46

I sympathise OP when much younger I went to a local very good old fashioned local health shop and I got two bottles which worked fantastically as my periods were very regular I tried to exercise regularly and even more just before my period. It's horrible isn't it and when you get your period it all makes sense I have on many occasions thought my DH was the worst man in the world and thought about leaving him during a bad outburst of PMS.
Now at 52 I am the same as IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday I rarely have a period but oh my the mood swings, irritability, anger, tearfulness, sadness, forgetfulness is even worse than before. I am also thinking of going to GP about it. I mentioned it once before but was ignored as I have another health condition which always takes priority.
Take care and hope you get some relief.

ihatethecold · 27/07/2017 08:18

revolution
I do quite a bit of dog walking already.

Some days I'm exhausted after the morning walk (45 mins).

Honey1975 · 27/07/2017 09:25

Brighteyes what was it you took? Was it Agnus castus?
I'm glad you said that about your OH, last month I was convinced we were going to get divorced!!

ihatethecold get your thyroid and vit d checked. My vit D levels were very low, it made me want to sleep all day (at work, which was unhelpful at the very least) and on weekends I'd have 3hr naps or sleep 6pm until morning. It also made me depressed.

Exercise def works too - maybe try changing up what type you're doing.

ihatethecold · 27/07/2017 12:51

Thanks Marmalade,

I had my thyroid, iron and BSL checked. all ok

I take high strength vit d and walk outside everyday without sunscreen on.

I have to walk my dogs everyday so changing what i'm doing wont work and i physically cant do more than 2 x 45 min walks a day.

there's not enough time or energy Smile

MarmaladeAtkinsX · 27/07/2017 13:12

Oh no, no easy fixes then!

It does feel a bit like a Micky Flanagan sketch, are you tired? Or tired tired?

I hope you find something that works. I must admit I felt great on FODMAP diet - loads of energy, great skin, but it's so hard to keep up with young ones.

Have you tried a gluten free diet? That always sends me to sleep (but I quite enjoy that on a rare occasion we have a quiet Sunday Grin).

ihatethecold · 27/07/2017 13:53

Ive done low carb which means i will lose a bit of weight but my energy levels are even lower on that.

But yes i am tired tired

Think its stress that makes me tired unfortunately

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 27/07/2017 18:42

Well I went to the Dr today with my PMS. She has prescribed Prozac, just to take on the days when I feel dreadful.

I will give it a try but going by this thread, I'm not sure if it will be helpful.

Honey and Brighteyes, I too convince myself that I'm getting divorced, every single week before my period. I convince myself that Dh hates me, that everything he does he is doing to wind me up like ask if I'd like a coffeeGrin. I can laugh about it when I'm not premenstrual, but during that week, it all feels so real.

Hormones eh!!!

MarmaladeAtkinsX · 27/07/2017 19:03

I was always told Prozac was a long term thing and you have to build up - it's not effective instantly.

When my anxiety was at its worst I was also prescribed a Valium-like thing with my Prozac which I took ad hoc as needed. It was much faster acting.

I really hope it helps you Woods but don't be afraid to tell your dr if it doesn't - you need to play the long game with this (as frustrating as that might be) and make sure you get proper relief that works for you.

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 27/07/2017 20:16

The Dr did consider giving me beta blockers but thought they wouldn't help with my low mood so Prozac would be better with that.

I have done a bit of googling and found some articles which suggest a low does should help with PMT. I will give it a go, but yes Marmalade, I will go back if they don't help me.

Honey1975 · 02/08/2017 14:06

Hi everyone

I was just wondering if anyone who's taken Agnus Castus got
any side effects from it at all?
Also I'd love to hear from anyone else who found it really did help their PMS and how long did it take to make a difference?

It's early days as only been taking it a week but I'm keeping everything crossed!!

Tiedie · 03/08/2017 14:39

Oh I sympathise. Week before my period I am googling studio flats - not sure if it's to protect my family from my foul mood or to get a break from them.
Dr told me to take agnus cactus, it's quite a high dosis though. I think it has helped but not equally much every month. It really depends what else is going on in my life, and how stressed I am with work, teenagers etc . But it's an improvement. I also find it good to know when my period is due, to warn everyone and to tell myself it's PMS and it too will pass. Sometimes that helps me keepy mood in check, take more exercise, time for myself...

Tiedie · 03/08/2017 14:40

P.s. No side effects from agnus cactus

Honey1975 · 16/08/2017 19:57

Did anyone find their period was delayed when they started taking Agnus? I've been taking it about 3 weeks now and was due to have period last weekend just gone but it's not arrived yet although I do feel like it's imminent. And there's no chance I could be pregnant😉

colouringinagain · 26/08/2017 15:29

Period due any day now and my pms is unbearable. Overwhelming lethargy tiredness, headache, negative thoughts and for last two days suicidal thoughts. Feel completely useless and worthless Sad

wevecomeonholidaybymistake · 26/08/2017 15:41

I need to try that Agnus stuff.

I'm totally hellish for about 10 days before my period. Anxious, arsey, paranoid and so clumsy.

How DH hasn't left me I'll never know.

MarmaladeAtkinsX · 26/08/2017 17:22

colouring please remember this is not normal, or your fault. We've all been through this. Just hold on tight .

colouringinagain · 26/08/2017 18:40

Hi holidaybymistake yes I've read through a few threads and written down agnus cactus, magnesium and b6....

Thanks marmalade hand hold back. Yes have been working to hard to remember how totally different I felt only on Tuesday.... Fortunately dcs out today, hoping I feel better than this tomorrow and Monday when they're back with me....

MarmaladeAtkinsX · 26/08/2017 19:39

The peaks and troughs can be so bad and raw, unless you've experienced them I'm not sure everyone, even some Drs, really understand. There were times I nearly put a deposit on a rental and planned to leave with the kids the next day, the next week if feel completely Balanced and just getting on with life.

It will only be a few days, research some of the things suggested in the thread and make an appt with your GP so next month might be easier x
