He just won't settle. He cries constantly when he's awake and I mean, constantly.

I have tried colief as the HV suggested colic. It just gave him diahorrea and didn't stop him crying. He doesn't appear to have colic anyway IMO.

Took him to a cranial osteopath. Was a different child for 2 days which was wonderful - he was calm and settled and now we are back to square one. I do have another appointment tomorrow but I feel so disheartened, I thought we had cracked it.

I feel so down. Have seen my dr and am on anti depressants (low dose) as I just am at the absolute end of my tether.

This wasn't what I expected when we decided to have a baby.

Please don't say 'Babies cry...' - I know they do but this is something else. Several friends and family have commented how difficult he is so I know it 's not just me not coping.

Will he grow out of it???

Matildax - Aptamil seems to be working. His tummy doesn't sound quite so gurgly...fingers crossed!

SMA Gold is heavily soya-based, might just be an intolerance. Keep an eye out for reactions to products containing soya etc when you start weaning him.

Have also noticed that SMA Gold left an oily residue in the bottles whereas Aptamil doesn't.

Wilkie: How are you getting on? I hope things are getting better for you now XX

matildax · 05/03/2007 14:56

hello again all, noone had answered by the time i had ran out of sma gold, so i bought some sma white and started him on it last night, have been told that because its "curd" based that i must give him water also, havent noticed any difference in the amount he consumes as yet!! still concerned about the whole sma thing... he is also really windy now, and seems to cry quite a bit after feeds, even though he does seem to bring some wind up, i will see how things go, but will maybe change to aptimil next time, however will it be harming to him, to be changing his milk so frequently?? im pleased to here things are better for you wilkie x

matildax · 05/03/2007 14:57

forgot to mention hes 8 weeks old

wilkie50 · 05/03/2007 19:04

Aptamil is brilliant. He is still windy (trumps) but doesn't seem so uncomfortable.

I don't think you can harm them by swapping milk too much. I have heard that SMA white can cause constipation so keep you eye on his pooy nappies and if he stops going, give him cooled boiled water between feeds

x

Hi all,
I have the same problem with my 7 week old. She is on the C & G Comfort formula - i was BF but had to stop as milk supply really rubbish and she is 12 lb already. HV is also giving me grief that she is putting on weight too quickly. I am giving her 5 feeds of 5 oz, and water in between as she is hungry. She is also still waking in the night, whereas all my other friends babies are now sleeping through - this is my second though 9 year gap from my son, and she is a really different baby. I have found that she is really whingey and likes to be held and entertained all the time - can get really exhausting! She is also on the colief drops as she really suffers in the evening without them.

hi its been a while since i last posted, comp and broadband have been broke!!! ds is very settled now on sma white, and life is returning to some sort of normality. hes still sleeping well now sometimes up to 10 hrs through the night, i tend to "cluster" feed him after tea and give him 2 to 3 bottles within about 3 hrs, i read in the baby whisperer book, which is brill by the way, that you should " tank" them up before bedtime and it has certainly worked for me. i hope things are good for you now wilkie, and tarasmummy also x x
