It's a vicious circle.
You know what you need to do.
Stop buying wine and crap (if it isn't in the house yuo won't have it) and set yourself achievable goals.

A 1/2 hour walk a day would bea gppd start.

secretundercover · 10/02/2007 18:46

i know i know, but i just go out and buy it. wish i could find energy, motivation for a walk, i just feel everyone looking at my fat body when i go out.

You have to find the motivation from within.
Noone can help you with that.
Make a list and do an online shop??

brimfull · 10/02/2007 18:49

So you are managing to get out to work, you have got some motivation.Your body is on a sugar binge cycle that you can't get off.
Have you thought about a low carb diet.It has helped me lose over stone and is really easy as you don't have any hunger cravings. You do need to read up on it but I would recommend the clarke plan here

You need to stop feeling sorry for yourself,I know that sounds wicked but only you can help yourself. You CAN do it.

brimfull · 10/02/2007 18:49

over 2 stone

secretundercover · 10/02/2007 19:36

i work from home. i lost three stone with atkins about 5 years ago, when i went out to work im in debt up to eyeballs cos the only thing that makes me happy is shopping, obviously not for clothes though

OP posts:
secretundercover · 10/02/2007 19:40

i know its all up to me, but i have never told anyone how i feel, what i do etc so i suppose this is some sort of start. sometimes i think im just a complete basket case

Come and join my 10year younger boot camp if you think it'll help. We're doing no drinking in the week, eating healthily, walking a bit, being happy. here, we're at the end of six weeks, about to do another one

secretundercover · 10/02/2007 19:54

might do that. thanks

out of interest, what dose of prozac are you on?have you had a word with your doctor about trying something different, such as reductil?i found it hard to break the vicious cycle when i was overweight,it was splitting up with my xp and the resulting stress causing 7lb to drop off me in a week that spurred me on to loose the rest of the weight.sometimes you need something to kick-start the weight loss etc.

secretundercover · 10/02/2007 20:18

am on one a day but want to come off them. is what you mention a slimming tab? if so, no way
been there done that.

divastropwantstodrop · 10/02/2007 20:46

it was an antidepressant that they found caused people to loose weight so they started giving it as a kind of dual-purpose thing i think.i dont know much about it tbh just that a couple of my friend were given it by their doctors.

i think you should speak to your gp again as the prozac obviously isnt helping.did they investigate any other possible causes of your lack of energy etc?i would think they should rule out any underlying cause of your craving sugary foods before they give you ad's.

mummytosteven · 10/02/2007 21:05

I agree with Moondog. Alcohol is a massive depressant, so a bottle of wine most days is really not going to do your health/energy levels any good. even if you have ate crap, try and force 3 healthy meals a day down you to regulate your blood sugar again.

dinny · 10/02/2007 21:10

sorry you are feeling so awful. I haver totally stopped drinking since Boxing Day (would probably have had about 1/3-1/2 bottle wine 4-5 nights) and have found I have totally stopped craving sweet things and wanting to snack all evening.

stopping the alcohol is a good place to start - let yourself have a hot chocolate, piece of fruit and treat-size choc bar at about 9pm to have something to look forward to instead.

and agree about trying to get out for a walk every day - can you go at lunchtime when at work?

Dior

I've read a few of your posts since joing here a few weeks ago. I'm in a similar situation to you - I am a size 14 but shouldnt be..it depresses me and yet I seem unable to stop the vicious cycle of eating to cheer myself up...
Can i join you two in trying to get of my ass more and stop stuffing choccies down my neck?

Great..any other restrictions or requirements? Are you exercising at all (or planning to?)
I was going to try and walk for half an hour every day ( just not to the sweet shop anymore!!)

secretundercover · 10/02/2007 23:24

Dior,I think it is counter productive to do exercise that bores you.
You will never last.
Have you thought of a class?
The social aspect is very inspiring and if you go with a friend, you spur each other on.

Kicking the wine (at least temporarily) is a great idea.
I drank a bottle over an evening on Saturday, and I know I won't feel myself again until Tuesday.

I have always been a really healthy eater but got into bad habits at the end of last year and just carried on.I have been at home ill for 3 weeks and have eaten a ridiculous amount of sugarry stuffMind if I join in?I think I will walk around the park once a day it is huge and close so should get me started It is raining but I think that is a poor excuse....

moondog · 11/02/2007 09:52

Drinking discussion rleated to Undercover Dior.

Seriously, there is nowt more boring than an exercise bike.
Take the kids swimming?
Wears them out too so when you get home they flop and so can you for a bit.
