Is there anyone else out there who is struggling to loose weight, despite doing everything you've been told to do? I am beginning to get a serious hang up about this. I have been exercising regularly since my DD was 8 weeks old. I started doing "buggyfit" 3 days a week, then started to do pilates twice a week as well as the buggy fit. I eat sensibly, don't snack on junk, don't ever drink alcohol during the week and only occasionally at the weekend. In other words, have become the most boring person on earth. I have just signed up a personal trainer, as I STILL weigh EXACTLY the same as I did when I started!!!!!!!!!!! How can that be??????!!!! I still have a massive tummy, am 2 sizes bigger than I used to be and we are 5 months down the line. I am seriously depressed about this, because I'm REALLY trying.

it really does take at least a year to get back to pre-pregnancy size, and that is only if you are exercising and eating well. my friend who is a personal trainer and a size 8 didn't believe me until she had her baby (and about to have her second) but it definitely is true.

the only thing i found to get rid of the excess weight on my tummy (even after getting back to pre pregnancy weight on the scales) was to stop eating bread. or just have it on "special occasions"

Tried pilates once but it was SO boring, nearly fell asleep. Perhaps it shapes you up but it won't burn off fat. What you need is something like aerobics twice a week.

To lose weight, I have to cut out eating normal meals (like meat, sauces, pasta). I make a vegetable soup and eat it over the week for lunch, usually 2 bowls and that stops me feeling hungry. Evening then a salad. Drink 6 big glasses of water and snack on 2-3 pieces of fruit. Can't usually face breakfast but it is best to eat something.

Trick is no bread (except maybe for breakfast) and no potatoes, pasta etc.

Sad, when it's so delicious!! Good to hear about your personal trainer friend. At least even the experts struggle a bit!
I am very excited this morning though, I stood on the scales and I have lost nearly 1kg!!! This is a major break through for me!! Truly exstatic!!! there is a God!!
Now if He could just sort out my key board; it's not recognising when I'm pressing some of the keys. AAAAAAARRRGH>>>>>

NAKM, it took me a year to make a dent in my weight. After 1.5 years and hard work looking after a toddler, I was below pre-pregnancy weight.

by all means, keep up the good work exercising. In the meantime, buy some inexpensive in-between clothes from Primark etc and you'd be amazed how much better you feel about yourself in clothes that fit. I have at least 2 sizes of clothes from post-preg to pre-preg.

And stop weughing yourself . It will come off when you are not watching.

ooops. better change my nickname quick!
but don't ya just love it when the holier than thou "just eat less and exercise more, it's that simple" brigade also struggle and realise that it's not always that simple??

It takes 9 months for the weight to go on and even longer for it to come off. I know. My twins are 2yo and it took all that time to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight, despite running, going to the gym and working out to DVDs at home. However, my shape has changed and my waist is thicker than it was before I had more boys.

I think it is unfortunate that women feel pressured to lose the pregnancy weight quickly because it distracts your focus from enjoying your new baby.

You will lose the weight eventually so try to relax and enjoy your baby!

I promise I do love my baby and am having the time of my life with her!! !! I am just about to give up my job that I worked so hard at building up, so I can be with my little treasure full time, as I am loving being a mummy!! Everything else in my life is fab, except the weight loss issue! I know I probably come across as being a bit obsessed, but if nothing else, at least DD and I get out into the fresh air every day, and she gets rattled round in her pram while i sweat it out. And before anyone says it, I do spend an awful lot of time playing with her and having a laugh with her too! [defensive emoticon]

found it very hard to lose the weight, esp if you are not breastfeeding. Took me 18 months to loose it and now I cant seem to loose anymore...very frustrating
