New thread for when the first one gets full - welcome everyone Smile

I always take mine in the morning. I find they give me a bit of a boost first thing, a bit like caffeine.

Verso · 02/06/2015 09:14

Anyone still around? I'm hoping it's testament to the effectiveness of the tablets that there aren't many of us posting at the moment - we're all too busy enjoying life (I hope).

elliejjtiny · 03/06/2015 10:20

I'm still here, glad I haven't killed the thread Smile

Can I join in? Back on 50mg sertraline for the third time in 2.5 years, on day 6. Weaned off it in March as TTC DC3 but had an early miscarriage at end March and issues with that came to a head last week and I plummeted back into the black hole Sad. Gutted that I will have to continue to take it whilst TTC now (see my other thread).
The last few days have been black as hell in the mornings especially after a few nights of not sleeping at all. Slept well last night so building myself up to do nursery pickup and bedtime solo later whilst DH works late. Ridiculous that
Am signed off work for 2 weeks for the first time in my liDh

How can something so routine suddenly become a massive deal? Am signed off work for 2 weeks, DH is on leave weethen we're off on a big family holiday which Ibwas dreading

RegLlamaOfBrixton · 03/06/2015 15:01

Christ, I need a new phone! Sorry for double posts and half posts!

Anyway, was trying to say that I am now quite looking forward to our holiday and getting away from stuff.

Sertraline has worked really well for me before but my GP wants me to combine with a talking therapy so I have an appointment on 25th June. I'm a bit of a lurker so may be crap with updates but reading these threads has been very helpful. Flowers

hotandbothered24 · 03/06/2015 15:06

I'm another newbie, now into week 4 of 50mg, had 2 weeks off work but now back , glad to hear so many of you feeling better

ItsAllAnAct · 03/06/2015 15:33

I've not been on the thread because things are crap :( I had a good week last week but now things are as bad as they were 5 months ago.

WanderingTrolley1 · 04/06/2015 16:27

Things are bleak my side, too.

Have been on Sertraline almost 5 months and I've been steadily declining (after a few decent weeks).

Dr referred me back to CMHT and I think they are considering changing me onto something else.

welshrarebitontheside · 06/06/2015 22:22

I'm new to this. Finally facing up to PND and am on day 2 of sertraline 50 mg. Day one, took in the morning as advised. Nauseous and spacey all day. Had a tiny glass of wine. Muzzy headed all day today v tired. Decided to take today's dose tonight. So reading experiences with a lot if interest esp the answers about when people take it. I have a responsible job and can't afford to be non functional come monday.

welshrarebitontheside · 06/06/2015 22:23

Is that somewhat ambitious to be functional on day 4?

RegLlamaOfBrixton · 07/06/2015 07:34

Hi Welsh, I think it depends on how non-functional you had become. I am on day 11 and am still signed off work for the coming week. Functioning much better than I was but a long way to go. Flowers for those having a crap time.

RegLlamaOfBrixton · 07/06/2015 07:48

So started to decline two weeks ago, now on day 11 of sertraline 50mg, managed to take kids out to a friend's for the afternoon on Friday and went into town for tea and cake with another friend yesterday. As well as doing an online Tesco shop. Would have been unthinkable a week ago. Just wanted to put some hope out there. x

welshrarebitontheside · 07/06/2015 10:37

Jesus. How am i going to get to work tomorrow then argh. Good to hear things improve though. Insomnia last night plus kids up at 445 this morning. Took it again this morning as i don't want insomnia and dh taking kids out today. Is it ok to have taken morning on day 1, evening day 2 and morning day 3 ?

welshrarebitontheside · 07/06/2015 10:39

Am working 3 days a week. Have m and dh doing most household chores washing and cooking. But i am still working. I feel if helps me/forces me to hol it together.

welshrarebitontheside · 07/06/2015 10:42

Technically think i just had a meltdown or breakdown if you will and gave up about 2.5 weeks ago. I was having palpitations every hour and couldn't cope with kids of dh. Somehow able to function at work. But permanenyly angry or tearful at home.

RegLlamaOfBrixton · 07/06/2015 16:10

If you feel work helps then go for it, last time I went onto sertraline I went back to work on day 5 but I hadn't sunk nearly so low then. Probably best to take every 24 hours but it's a case of finding a time that works for you. I take mine when I wake up but still had a few nights of insomnia. Feeling guilty for being signed off for the coming week but I know I'm not ready to go back yet. Also wish the sertraline would get rid of the issues that triggered this round of depression in the first place as well as the depression itself. Oh well, the depression has eased a lot so it's a start.

hotandbothered24 · 07/06/2015 19:58

I take mine in the morning and do feel a bit wired to start with, but also get bouts of non-stop yawning later, started to feel better after about 3 weeks. I find being at work helps me as I like the routine, but did need a bit of time off at the beginning as was a complete mess to start with

welshrarebitontheside · 07/06/2015 20:27

Work definitely helps and i seem to be managing but am a bit worried about tomorrow with when to take etc..2 days tear free - the longest in a while. Actually felt affection towards dp today instead if annoyance. Not sure if it's placebo mind you!

elliejjtiny · 08/06/2015 00:04

Welcome to the new people and Cake to those of you who are feeling low at the moment. I find if I take sertraline after 11am then I get insomnia too. The head full of fog feeling should be temporary and will settle down in a few days. I always get it when I start taking them or increase my dose.

Struggling at the moment as DS5 is 1 at the weekend. I have to keep reminding myself that he wont suddenly turn into a toddler at midnight on Friday, Kevin the teenager style. He will still be his usual cute cuddly self. Being the youngest he will probably always be my baby. DS1 still is, even though he's nearly 9 and I can hug him without bending over. Seeing the health visitor on Wednesday and the gp on Friday.

Is anyone else a stay at home mum? Just wondering as I'm feeling a bit hard done by as DH has been signed off work with stress and I can't be signed off from my job. He does the school run and a bit of freelance work, looks after DS3 when I take the younger 2 to an "under 2's" group once a week and occasionally cooks a meal. I do everything else. Feel like he gets more sympathy too as his illness is more visible as he's not at work.

RegLlamaOfBrixton · 08/06/2015 07:09

Part of me would like to go back to work just to get that sense of normality but I'm still quite wobbly, especially first thing in the morning. I only work three days so only signed off til Wednesday really. Then going on holiday next week so hoping by the time I go back two weeks today I'll be feeling ok.

Shar5 · 08/06/2015 14:07

Hi. I'm new and I'm on day 5, not feeling great but thinking about the bigger picture! Is it normal to feel so unmotivated? I'm just sitting for hours on end doing nothing, will this pass?

RegLlamaOfBrixton · 08/06/2015 17:31

Totally normal I'd say. It's one of the many things I hate about depression, I am normally constantly dashing around, very motivated. I've wasted so much time doing nothing the last couple of weeks. Getting there again though, today I have been to a class at the gym, cooked dinner with extra to freeze, put away the Tesco delivery and cleaned and tidied three kitchen cupboards.

Slipper5 · 08/06/2015 18:42

Thank you, I'm normally quite motivated too. Sounds like you were busy today, I need to try and make an effort tomorrow! I've heard exercise helps.

RegLlamaOfBrixton · 08/06/2015 18:50

I am addicted to classes at the gym so even on my very lowest days I forced myself to go, definitely helps! You will get your motivation back as you start to feel better Smile
