Gosh... the sun's coming out, and I even wore a summer dress a couple of days ago, and walked into the garden barefoot.

Let's cherish our bodies and feel powerful in them this summer.

Come and join us!! We’re a friendly group that uses Fasting in one form or another to lose weight or maintain our weight loss. We all have our ups and downs, and welcome insights from others and laughter along the way.... pirates and dachshunds will pop their heads up, we're in awe of those shredding with Jillian and lifting significant weights (beyond our own!) and impressed when we get our steps in.

Fridays are our informal day for weighing-in (optional) and reflecting on the week – often with ideas for self-care and new goals for the coming week.

We cheer each other on, and commiserate when things don't go to plan.
If you’re new to this group, do introduce yourself and share your hopes and plans. Some of us find daily posting helpful for accountability - others just pop in every now and then.

So - how would you like summer to look for you? What are your hopes and dreams? And plans for making them happen?

Sw 213 cw 198.8! I gained a half pound yesterday though after a vv small glass of wine and some tortellini which is a bit annoying- unbelievable how many carbs in filled pasta!

Clearingaspace · 29/05/2026 13:30

How’s everyone been?

Not a great week in terms of weightloss for me -I have had some kind of virus and also not been able to walk as much in the heat. Probably done f see one inadvertent fasting though!

Hello all,

I will be very glad to draw a line under May, it has not gone well. Various dramas that I won’t bore you with have seen me reach for the junk food far too often and what should have been a FuckItAllFriday seems to have lasted for a fortnight! 😫

Anyway, fresh start and all that. Meals planned for next week, fasting app reset, and Jillian ready to kick my butt back into shape. A Monday and a first of the month is a good day to reset.

(It was the Mary Berry lemon biscuits wot started the downfall guv).

Clearingaspace · 31/05/2026 23:38

Damn you delicious Mary berry biscuits!

I love that you are ready to kick butt @TheNoWord! good luck with Jillian tomorrow! I am ready for fresh start June too. On track for 17 hour fast tomorrow

TheNoWord · 01/06/2026 10:25

Are we having a new thread or just plodding on?

I am in need of daily posting I think as it helped me get back into a good routine before.

Just done day 1 of Jillian’s Beginner Low Impact Shred; gosh, I am so out of shape even though I have been doing my physio exercises religiously. Fasted since 7pm and not eaten yet. Taking the dogs out now so should manage 17 or 18 hours before I eat today.

Clearingaspace · 01/06/2026 12:31

Ooh, a new thread would be great I think @TheNoWord as it often brings in some new people for chat? @loveyouradvice would you be up for starting a new thread? Otherwise maybe one of us can start a new thread or copy and paste previous opening post?

I fasted from 3pm till breakfast around 9:00am so 18 hours - the longest I have fasted in ages. I have done really well with walking and averaged 11000 steps last month, but really need to start doing some actual workouts, I think you might be giving me the push I need @TheNoWord to actually get started!

TheNoWord · 05/06/2026 10:12

I’ll carry on here for now, but if anyone does start a new thread do tag me!

Four days in and fasting going well, between 16 and 18 hours so far. Mornings are still a struggle as I got so used to eating early to take medication, but I am pushing through by telling myself I can do it and it’s worth it.

Sticking with Jillian but after a lower body session of squats and lunges on Tuesday it is clear I have pretty much lost all the gains in strength I made last year. Ah well, at least I know I can build back up again but my quads have only just stopped quivering!

Aiming for a weight loss of a kg a month for this year, which should see me well below 60kg by Christmas; don’t want to cut calories to lose any faster really as I want to concentrate on getting strength and fitness back so a deficit of at least 300 a day is my bottom line at the moment. Managing at least 1g protein per kilo of my weight every day but always aiming for a little more.

All in all, a decent start to my comeback/post-op regime 🙂

How is everyone else?

Clearingaspace · 05/06/2026 12:28

sounds good to stay here for now @TheNoWord .

Well done on Jillian workouts and fasting! It sounds like you are doing all the right things to be in a great place with your strength by Christmas. Hopefully you will find that you gain back strength quicker than it took last year because your muscles have done it all before!

I have had a pretty good week but only one short strength workout completed so need to get one done today. I have averaged 13000 steps which I am happy with.

I have been doing fasting mimicking this week, 850 calories plant based. I read about a study undertaken by Nottingham university last year where they looked at a high protein (30%) and low protein (10%), 850 calories per day for 7 days plant based, and both were found to cause markers of autophagy but there was better visceral fat reduction with high protein. At the same time I also saw a Źoe YouTube podcast about plant based diet helping with arthritis; I have been having various aches and pains so decided to give essentially vegan fast 800 a try for 6 days. Unfortunately any reduction in stiffness etc was pretty minimal but I lost 5lbs (1 back on after normal eating yesterday), One thing i did notice was I didn’t really get low blood sugar although I felt a bit weak on day 6 because I double counted some of my calories! I would do it again I think, maybe next month. I also discovered a good brand of tempeh (better nature peri peri) as I really don’t like the tibia (?) ones that most supermarkets sell. I was impressed thst my fibre averaged 25g despite averaging under 850 calories. I also naturally ended up fasting 16-18 hours as ran out of calories!

Hope all well and that you are doing ok @loveyouradvice

Clearingaspace · 05/06/2026 12:31

https://www.clinicalnutritionjournal.com/article/S0261-5614(25)00218-3/fulltext This was the study if anyone interested

TheNoWord · 05/06/2026 13:41

Wow @Clearingaspace that does sound pretty hardcore, really well done at sticking to that. I’ll give that study a read, though being a ‘meat ’n’ potatoes’ kinda gal it probably isn’t for me 😄

I suspect if I had a personal chef to prep and cook lots of delicious veggies I might manage it. I have been meaning to try tempeh though so I will look up the one you mention. We do eat mainly veggie for breakfast/lunch (veggie omelettes, yoghurt with berries, salads etc.) but tea/dinner tends to be on the carnivore side with either meat or fish as the main ingredient, albeit with plenty of veg.

Clearingaspace · 05/06/2026 14:19

Sounds lovely @TheNoWord we eat pretty similarly- I am amazed I lasted 6 days with no eggs. My parents are Irish and I didn’t even have pizza until I was 18 so very much meat snd spuds girl myself! I am hedging my bests though by trying to eat more plant based meals occasionally. I hope you like it but keep in mind I was pretty hungry when eating the tempeh 😂 I had it finely sliced and dry fried.

Clearingaspace · 12/06/2026 09:32

hello weekly check in
uch more relaxed week just one fast day yesterday then moderate to low deficit the rest of the week. A couple of weights workouts but not as many as i would like due to dodgy ankle

sw 113 cw 193 -,20lbs in 2 months!

Clearingaspace · 12/06/2026 09:47

By low deficit I mean pretty much maintenance!

TheNoWord · 12/06/2026 10:06

Checking in too.

My trusty spreadsheet tells me I am running a deficit of around 275 calories a day this month, which is fine so far and enables me to eat pretty well with some treats along the way. Fasting between 14 and 18 hours depending on how I feel in the morning.

I weighed on the 1st June and have been weighing daily to see the trend as I do fluctuate quite a bit depending on what I have eaten, rather than the amount iykwim (e.g rice has an effect, bumping my weight up by at least half a kilo the next day).

Happy Scales chart is slowly heading down which is all I’m aiming for currently. We had friends arrive in town unexpectedly last night so I’m expecting the next couple of days to be rather sociable in terms of food and drink though!

Almost finished week 2 of Jillian BLIS and finding it tough but getting on with it. I know it will get easier but I will moan again about how much strength I have lost this year!

Hope the ankle improves @Clearingaspace and maintenance is always an achievement 👏

Clearingaspace · 12/06/2026 12:08

Well done @TheNoWord on the downward trending weight and Jillian workouts. How does it compare to shred? I think sometimes the scale reflects the actual weight of the food rather than the calories! Hope you have a lovely weekend with friends.

Clearingaspace · 12/06/2026 12:10

😂 my sw weight was 213 not 113 - wishful thinking

I’m currently calling it ‘Baby Shred’ 😄

If you had never done the 30 day shred before it would be a gentle introduction; I say gentle, but in fact it’s only because I’m used to doing the 30DS that I consider it gentle! It’s still kicking my butt as I’m so feeble compared to before Christmas.

I’m back from lunch with the friends (beer and pizza overlooking the beach but offset by 15000 steps and of course Jillian this morning).

Clearingaspace · 12/06/2026 18:54

Wow 15000 and a workout, that should definitely help balance out the lunch - sounds like it was. good fun 🤩 baby shred sounds more my level as I am still too traumatised by all the jumping jacks to do 30 day shred any time soon! I should investigate which of her dvds I have stashed away.

Clearingaspace · 25/06/2026 10:58

Hello hope everyone is doing ok.

i am just about holding on to my recent losses but doing the 2lb yo yo! I have actually been more hungry during the heatwave - think it’s related to poor sleep maybe.

Just thought I would come on for a moan in the hope of a kick up the bum!
