Struggling to eat enough calories- is this ok?

I‘ve been IF since the beginning of January, trying to lose the last 10lbs (give or take). I‘m doing 16:8 3 days a week, and 18:6 the other 4 (starting after dinner, until lunchtime).

I have found it really easy, I don’t feel hungry at all. I often feel I could fast even longer, I’m not counting down the hours until breaking my fast at all. I‘ve lost 4lbs so far.

However, I’m only eating about 1000 calories a day. That’s lunch and dinner, and a small snack in between. I don’t want to eat more, as I said I‘m not hungry. At the weekend I‘ve had a few more treats bringing me up to 1400- weekly average is 1150 calories.

Is this ok? Surely it’s not much different than Fast 800? Or would it benefit me to eat more?

Depends. How tall are you, how old are you, what is your current weight and your activity level?
When I was losing weight I used my TDEE to calculate a weight loss calorie target and, at 5ft 9, my target was 1,300 cals per day. If you are fairly petite your target could be fine, but hard to know without knowing all the above info.

I‘m 5‘6“ and just turned 39.

This morning’s weight was exactly 10 stone, I‘m aiming for 9.5. I lost about 1.5 stone already without IF or calorie counting, but by eating a lot healthier, cutting down on booze and upping my exercise. I hit a plateau, that’s why I‘ve tried IF.

You shouldn’t have hit much of a plateau if you are actually only eating 1000 cals. Your weight loss target calories are higher than that according to tdee calculator, assuming exercise a couple of times per week.

If you aren’t accurately weighing and measuring everything you consume, then it’s likely you are consuming more than you think tbh.

I was eating more before, with breakfast and snacks, plus booze. That’s when I hit a plateau and decided to try IF.

So now I am minus breakfast, snack and alcohol calories. But feeling full and losing weight again.

If you're worried about calories have a pint of Guinness. Lol.
It sounds like you're doing well. I personally would find it hard to deliberately monitor my calorie intake. So well done.
