Anyone up for supporting each other with 36 hour fasts?

As a midlife / perimenopausal woman these worked brilliantly for me in the summer and I managed to lose my first stone. I'm completely convinced by the health benefits and would like to get back in to them, but can't break through the struggle at the 21hr-ish mark. OMAD is no problem, I just want to hit the 36-hour fast.

Would anyone like to buddy up for some mutual encouragement?

Hope everyone's had a good weekend.

Who's fasting tomorrow?

I'm going to have some fruit & yogurt in a few minutes (& maybe a hot chocolate?!), then will hopefully be fasting from this evening until Tuesday.

Peae · 09/02/2025 20:46

I’m doing 24 TRE to ease myself in as, once again, I’m feeling flu-y and like I’m coming down with something 😖.
Or maybe I never quite got over what I had at the of Jan. The cough is definitely still around.

(Sorry to go on about my ailments all the time!).

My Dsis was ill for the whole of Dec. There's some nasty bugs going round @Peae , hope you feel better soon

fastingaway · 09/02/2025 22:28

Hope you feel better soon @Peae - some of these bugs are lingering a fair bit.

I'm in too - kitchen closed late this evening but hoping to fast to Tuesday.

I did a 40 hour fast over the weekend. Going to do another 2 this week, hence officially kick starting my 2025 5:2 #HungerGames. 🥳.

Would you say a bit more about how you combine 5:2 with 40 hour fasts?

Looks like I’ve put 2-3lb on. Happy with that. Feeling super motivated about healthy eating this week. Also back to sugar-free, aiming for the rest of the month with that.

Well done, @Peae

I weigh every day and record on Happy Scale, so I can see trends. My weight has fluctuated by 5 pounds over the last week. I can understand that fasting and non fasting days will impact this, due to water weight etc, but this still seems a huge fluctuation! I think it is particularly noticeable as I'm quite short (already at healthy weight but trying to lose a few pounds) and each pound is a big percentage of my total body weight.

fastingaway · 10/02/2025 08:58

@Sunflowers84 I have fluctuated by about that amount too and I am also short. It fluctuates a bit then settles down for a couple of days then starts again.

Jollyjoy · 10/02/2025 09:34

Ive been doing the happy scale the last 4/5 days and also fluctuated by exactly the same amount!

That's not a bad gain at all @Peae , glad you're feeling motivated but shame about the fluey feeling...

I'm not fasting today as I'd planned, had forgotten DH and I have a lovely spa day booked which involves a 2 course meal! So think I'll start Tues eve and fast through wed this week. Started back at the gym last week so feeling good about that, definitely have eaten a bit too much last few days again though, need a fast for a reset!

fastingaway · 10/02/2025 10:32

Good reason to postpone fast @Jollyjoy - have a great time. @Peae that's pretty good after a holiday. You sound really motivated. I have a couple of meals out this week so will build the fasting around this. And keep busy.

Sunflowers84 · 10/02/2025 18:30

That's helpful to hear that some of you fluctuate as much as I do!

@Jollyjoy Hope you're having a lovely day.

@Peae How's your day been? Did you do 24 hours?

@fastingaway How's are you doing? I'm at around 22 hours and in the feeling very cold stage.

fastingaway · 10/02/2025 19:08

@Sunflowers84 hope today has been manageable. My cold hands started as well - reaching 22 hours now. Today was busier so helped. I've even managed to make dinner for the family.

LittlePearl · 10/02/2025 23:30

Just catching up on the thread, last week was crazy busy.

Welcome back @Peae , I hope you manage to get back in the groove very soon.

I've just passed the 25 hour mark, stopped eating very late last night. I plan to go right through until tomorrow (Tuesday) evening if possible, we're going to friends' house for supper and they're great cooks so I know it will be worth the wait!

Hope fellow fasters are doing ok and get a good night's sleep.

Peae · 11/02/2025 09:17

Well done Monday fasters!

Yes, I did OMAD on Saturday and Sunday and ate in 8 hours last night after managing 24 hours 😇.

Going to do a couple of 18:6s and then maybe OMAD on Thursday. I’m really focusing on my nutrition, UPFs etc. at the moment.

I fasted for nearly 40 hours. As with last week, I think I could have gone longer but I really want to make sure I give myself enough hours on non fasting days to eat a range of nutritious food.

fastingaway · 11/02/2025 15:32

I've managed to just over 41 hours. Have a dinner out later but decided to break it at lunch today rather than go through to a later time.

fastingaway · 11/02/2025 15:44

I am finding that when I am eating I am getting fuller quicker. I need to reduce my portions as am often struggling to finish - a bit of a disconnect between what my brain still thinks I need versus what I really do. Anybody else finding this?

Well done to all the fasters this week - @Sunflowers84 and @Peae. @LittlePearl how is it going? Hope you have a nice meal with friends tonight once you do break your fast.

I just caved! So hungry and cold, but I was over 40 hours so I don't feel too guilty.

Well done everyone, if we can do it on chilly grey February days think how much easier it should feel in the summer!

fastingaway · 11/02/2025 15:52

Absolutely @LittlePearl and well done on the fast. You've made me think of the sun and brighter days. ☀️🕶️

Potterwatch89 · 11/02/2025 18:48

Anyone planning to fast tomorrow? I need to get back on it after birthday indulgence 😅

Potterwatch89 · 11/02/2025 18:49

Also well done to all of you for your fasts this week, I'm feeling jealous looking at all your successes 🥰

Jollyjoy · 11/02/2025 21:15

Wow great fasting team inspiration from the last few days! @fastingaway yes I am noticing a difference to how much I need to eat and also that my mind wants to eat as much as it's used to, if not more after a fast and on an omad day for example. It feels like a long term process trying to tackle that mind.

I'm fasting tomorrow @potterwatch. I'm debating whether to eat something now. I didn't eat til 2pm today and had a big plate of food, so that I didn't feel hungry at dinner around 5 with the kids and now just finished some work and a bit peckish but don't normally like to eat this late. Bit apprehensive about whole day fast tomorrow with such an early start, will put me at around 42hrs to go to breakfast on Fri. It'll be fine though right?!

Jollyjoy · 11/02/2025 21:15

Oh and the spa and meal was lovely, thanks for the well wishes.

@Jollyjoy really glad to hear I have a fasting buddy today. Did you end up eating or have you been fasting since 2pm yesterday? I'm currently on 12 hours so obviously feeling fine so far. I'm out tonight at a hobby so hoping that will keep my mind off food. Good luck for today and I'll check in later
