Stress Binge eating - have you found fasting worsen this?

Hello,

I’m curious to know if anyone who has started time restricted eating or fasting has this alleviated or worsened your (stress induced) binge eating?

If I ever try to restrict/reduce my food in any way it kicks in my binge eating.

Hmm yes it can. But I find if I manage to push through it gets better.

It massively depends on your mindset/personality. I find if I have a really clear timeframe with and end date that isn't too far away it can help.

So currently I'm trying to lose weight for Xmas. That's about 11 weeks away. That feels doable and I feel the motivation of potentially not being the fattest person at the table as bloody usual. Delay don't deny. I also make long lists of food that I plan to eat on my next binge day.....which probably isn't great but it gets me through the day.

I've recently started 5:2. On one of my non-fast days I went to the theatre with my child. I bought sweets and I ate 3 because that's all I wanted. I've never been a person to leave sweets, I would always want all of them!

It has had no impact - I still do and it is unpredictable when it will happen.

However, I do notice that sometimes I get hungry and others I don't so now that I've lost most of the weight I want to lose, I go easy on myself - if I'm hungry I'll eat in a 8-9.5 hour window, when I'm really not hungry in just a 5-6 hour one, and normally in a 7-8 hour one.
